O.S.T. Restaurant in Bandera is known for its down-home, friendly atmosphere and delicious food. Operating since 1921, it is the oldest restaurant in town, with a name short for "Old Spanish Trail." The varied menu offers options for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, with breakfast served all day. Breakfast features gigantic pancakes that taste like cake, hearty breakfast enchiladas, and crispy bacon. The lunch specials and regular menu provide plenty of choices, while the excellent salad bar is always fresh. The staff is very friendly and provides prompt, attentive service, making it a favorite spot for families and visitors alike. The cook, Rosie, receives high praise for her quality dishes. A popular choice on Friday nights is the catfish special, enjoyed in a warm, John Wayne-themed atmosphere. Customers appreciate the outstanding home-cooked style of the food and the great prices, often returning regularly. While the restaurant does not serve alcohol, the overall experience offers a wonderful dining environment with efficient service. Some guests have noted that while breakfast is exceptional, dinner may vary in quality, but the inviting setting and friendly service make it worth a visit.
