Everything was A-1
Best French dip
This is our favorite place to go in Bandera. Thank you for always making us feel welcomed!
Our 2nd time here in the past 3 months. Food, drinks, and service were phenomenal. Being from Wisconsin and having the Bulleit Old Fashioneds, made me feel as if we were at home. The prime rib and ribeye were out of this world. Baked sweet potatoe with butter and cinnamon, baked potatoe, and fresh salad. Well worth the 1300 mile trip. Awesome to all involved at The Forge.
Always a great place to eat..
The food here was amazing, we had the chicken fried steak and grilled pork chops with mash potatoes and fried okra. The appetizer of fried mushrooms was also very good. Will definitely be coming back! The staff was very friendly and our server was on point!
aside from being placed near the bar i initially, we were able to move after we brought management's attention to patient 0 coughing phlegm out of his face on the corner seat.
Let me start by saying Vicky (Victoria) is the friendliest kindest waitress ever! She was super attentive and extremely personable! Please ask for her if she’s available!! My fiancee and I came to Bandera for a quick getaway for our anniversary. We tried TJ’s and ended up going back the next day to grab takeout on our way home. It was so delicious! I had the chicken cordon bleu with mushroom sauce. The sauce is out of this world! My better half had the chicken fried steak and he was born and raised in Texas and he absolutely loved it (he’s had many to compare lol). They had cheese curds which are a household favorite of ours and not always easy to find them the way we like them, just lightly fried with a very light coating (not all breading like most I’ve found in TX). If you haven’t tried TJ’s, you are missing out!
Best chicken fried anything in Bandera!

We stopped here because my wife had a good experience recently while out with a friend. She ordered the same thing she had last time (the French dip) and I ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna and Avocado Salad. The Tuna has a good reputation for this place based on comments and the waitress.
What I got was frankly....inedible. The look of it was unappetizing and clearly had not been seared. It had the edges cooked or heated or warmed, but the center was mushy and bland. There was no flavor and a terrible texture. I typically like a nice quick sear on a tuna steak browning the sesame seeds and giving a firmness to the meat while maintaining a raw center. You need some type of glaze, sauce, oil, or butter to get a good sear here and it really seemed like it was just warmed up on skillet.
I actually took a bite after pouring the citrus dressing over the fish and salad and had to send it back to be cooked more thinking that that might improve the bland and mushy fish.... it did not help.
I've ordered and made Ahi Tuna steaks MANY times over the years and I have never had a worse cut of Tuna in my life. Additionally the dressing provided nothing at all to the salad. This was the Avocado/Tuna salad and the amount of avocado was also really disappointing. I did not take more than 1 more bite of the fish to accept that this was awful and I totally lost my appetite. My wife's French Dip was also lackluster. She only finished 1 half of the sandwich because she was starving. It was not the experience she had last time, thus we stopped here, but I will not be giving this place another chance.
The staff was really nice from the moment we walked in, they wiped down the outside tables, and were genuinely fairly friendly. They did try to help and offered me to order something else, but like I said my appetite was totally ruined. In the end paying 50 bucks for some of the most disappointing food really ruined my morning hahhahaha. I do hope that this restaurant is better than this because it has decent ratings, but it was seriously inedible and again I will never be coming back to risk such high levels of disappointment.

Cute place, good service. My husband ordered salmon and it looked frozen, it was horrible. His broccoli was good. I had cod and green beans. Green beans were wonderful but cod was less than average. We wish we had went for pizza instead.
