I first had Abyssinia’s food at the Empty bowl benefit and they were one of my very faves out of 40+ soups offered by local restaurants. I don’t know why it took me so long to park in the back lot and go try their food at their restaurant, but I decided to give it a go today and it did not disappoint! This was wonderful and I’ll be back again to try something else!
I had the Tibs plate with chicken and everything was just seasoned to perfection. I’ve never had Ethiopian food other than their soup, so I wasn’t sure if I would like everything, but it was all excellent. I noticed they also have vegetarian and vegan options, and I can’t wait to bring my daughter-in-law here the next time she comes to visit.
It’s 102 degrees this afternoon and it’s just so hot! That said, the covered patio area of this food truck park with fans was not uncomfortable until I was finished eating. I am writing this review from my air-conditioned vehicle lol.

My favorite lunch place in Bastrop. The vegetarian platter is the healthiest and best value lunch you can get in Bastrop. The ice cream and popsicles are also superb and made with real ingredients. My daughter is a fan of the rainbow popsicle made with fresh kiwi, mango, blackberry.

Some of the best Ethiopian food I’ve had in the Austin area. The injera, the atakilt and misir wat, yebeg tibs, everything is perfectly done. And they make their own ice cream. The coffee ice cream is great.

Just came to hike in the park today. A couple places we tried for lunch had long waits. This place was Amazing! Very friendly, short wait, and the food was great. We got lamb and chicken tips. The lemonade is fresh real lemonade and very smooth. Not too bitter or tart. Might be the best Ethiopian food we’ve had. We will definiteLy be back!!!

This is definitely a food truck to try. It takes time for her to prepare the delicious food. Good things come to those that wait. It is not fast food. I love Ethiopian food and this place is closer to my house than the North Austin options. Limited menu but great food! I got the healthy veggie plates and it was only 10! In todays expensive world that was a good deal! Also you must try the flat bread if you have any gluten issues as it is gluten free made out of Teff flour!

This place is SO GOOD!! Food tastes fresh and delicious. Look at all this meat I got! The lamb was spicy and seasoning was perfect! Will definitely return. The lady working was very sweet and adorable, too. Some of the best food in Bastrop. Can't wait to try other dishes. Also, the flatbread is GLUTEN FREE. Highly recommend.

I have been strictly vegetarian for five years, and the Vegan & Vegetarian plate was truly some of the most fresh and delicious food I have ever eaten! The value of the meal was great as well. I had not ever had the chance to try Ethiopian food before, and I’m so glad accidentally stumbled upon this food truck. Also, the woman running it was very kind.
I also tried their fresh-squeezed lemonade, and it was absolutely wonderful with a little fresh mint. I stopped by at about 1:30pm on a Sunday, so the food court was very peaceful. Overall, this was one of the most beautiful, fresh, and healthy tasting meals I have ever had. The photo speaks for itself. I highly recommend Abyssinia Cafe.
