Fitties BBQ is a delicious hidden gem tucked inside a humble trailer park off Highway 71 in Bastrop. The moment you pull in, you’ll notice the simplicity of the setup—no frills, just a smoker-filled trailer with serious barbecue game. The menu is posted on a rustic wooden fence, and despite the informal vibe, everything is well-organized and inviting.
One thing to know in advance: customers are required to order through the drive-through window—even if you’re dining on-site. According to the friendly staff, this rule exists because of their insurance policy. It helps reduce liability by keeping all customer activity within designated drive-through zones. So even if it feels unnecessary, you’ll need to circle through with your vehicle.
After picking up your food, you’re welcome to sit at the picnic tables scattered around the grassy lot. That’s exactly what I did—enjoying a hearty plate of ribs, sausage, potato salad, and beans. The portion was generous, the flavors smoked to perfection, and the price very reasonable ($20 all-in). My only gripe? The flies. It’s Texas, it’s summer, and it’s open air—so come prepared to defend your meal.
Overall, if you’re looking for honest BBQ in a low-key setting, Fitties delivers. Just follow the rules, bring bug spray, and let the smoky flavors do the rest.
Brisket was by far the worst I’ve ever had in my life. I honestly didn’t know brisket could be that tough. The fat was not rendered. Sausage/potato salad/beans were okay.
Closed and doesn't say it's closed
Drive-through only. A little difficult to get to, but worth it. Great brisket!
Fitties, a family-run business, is always a pleasure to work with. Their kindness is truly appreciated. Last Thanksgiving, I used their meal package to cater my Thanksgiving dinner, and it was the best one yet! I only had to prepare the family traditions that bring me joy, eliminating the stress of cooking everything on time, keeping it warm, and spending hours in the kitchen, only to have 30-45 minutes around the table with family. Their smoked turkey was even better than any homemade turkey I've ever tasted. Fitties is Bastrop's best-kept secret, and their pricing is excellent.
Food was good as expected
Not to be missed. You can feel it.

Ate at Fitties about a decade ago and stopped again when I was in Austin this weekend. Glad to see the BBQ hadn't changed at all: genuinely the best BBQ I have ever had with unmatched Texas roadside charm. No pretentions here, couldn't recommend more highly.
