They sure have gone down hill in a few years! Rangoons were burnt, the chicken plate is awful. Rice is bland and has a freezer burn aftertaste. The green beans also have a freezer burn aftertaste and a papery inside. Ya know, when like you chew a piece of paper up in your mouth. Not good at all on the senses. Chicken patties look like just that! Although I do think it is real chicken meat. To top it all off, the man who serves and sits inside at his own desk is consistently rude, unhappy and seems utterly disturbed that you are even in there. He will snap at his kitchen work, and at you especially if you are inquiring about his shelves and shelves of books. He will reprimand you only to take one per customer as if he has had thefts in the past of more than one book, and it has cost him dearly! I will not walk back on that place, although I used to recommend it often for thier rangoons and even brought plants to them years ago. No wonder it’s always empty.

Food was excellent! They have a book exchange and a chess board which is great.

This is a hidden gem! The restaurant has bookshelves on the wall and no music playing so that may throw some people off but the food is incredible. We had the eggrolls, orange chicken and pineapple cashew fried rice. The ingredients were fresh and food was delicious.

Food was amazing (even though our proteins were mixed up). Atmosphere and staff, not so great. Musty and dated, looks like a home office in part of the dining room, with shelves of books & movies. Man who helped us, was not personable, and as soon as we were seated, he put on some sort of movie(horror?) In another language. It was loud, and difficult for us to hold a conversation at the table. Not appetizing to hear either. The food here really was good, we'll definitely be back, but next time it'll be to go.

So we got yelled at for picking up the wrong menu. This was our 1st time here.So we sat down. No politeness at all.Ordered our drinks. He then sat down at a home office desk that was set up in the restaurant. And turned in the tv so loud we literally could not hear each other. He came and took our order, but didn't write it down. When our food arrived, he had messed it up.She ordered chicken and i ordered beef and he switched them. We let it slide...What really annoyed me was him not giving me my change after i paid. That isn't okay. That is theft.

First time here, not impressed. The older man that worked the front obviously doesn't want to be here. I walked in, went to the desk and stood right in front of him, no greeting. He doesn't want conversation with customers, it's library setting, no music, the 4 other customers even talked quietly. So quiet in there, at one point when he went into the kitchen and left the door open, you hear him yell "NO TALKING " I'm guessing that was at the cook, because we never heard or saw anyone else. The cook delivered the food to the tables. When he gets drinks you can also hear him open and close an ice chest to get ice. I kept wondering if there's usually another server because of the reviews I saw. The food was not steaming hot, but we ate it anyway, no seasoning, but with some salt and pepper and the sauce on the side it was ok. Maybe we just caught him on a bad day, Valentine's Day.

I would have rated this place much higher but! I had the panag curry why put squash and carrots in a penang curry and that was the only vegetables? Flavor was good. Presentation was great portion was small for a bowl of curry. The rice serving portion was a good size and good.

I was wanting to try some Thai, and I’d never been here before so I decided to try it out. I’m rating it 5-stars based on the food quality, which was outstanding. The place itself isn’t anything special. We visited during a slow period, maybe around 3pm on a weekday. We were the only customers, which is usually a red flag for me, but I was committed to trying it out. It’s an old building and isn’t very fancy at all. It seemed clean, if a bit outdated. The dining area also doubles as what appears to be an office for the owner who sits at a desk looking over the dining area. It’s a bit unsettling, since where we sat it seemed that the man behind the desk was looking at me the whole time. His computer screen was directly in line with me, so I’m sure that he was just watching his monitor. There are also bookshelves loaded up, so you might find something interesting to read while you dine.We ordered two appetizers. Spring rolls and “stingrays”. It’s funny that the menu says, “fried to perfection” which usually wouldn’t mean much, but in this case, they were indeed fried to perfection. They looked and tasted amazing, perfectly fried and very crispy.I ordered Pad Thai, and my wife ordered the Orange Coconut Shrimp. My wife also saw the Cranberry Fried Rice and wanted to try it, so we ordered that as a “side”.My Pad Thai (with pork) was piping hot and delicious. The fried rice was some of the best fried rice that I’ve ever had. My wife was a little disappointed with the shrimp, which looked more like shrimp cakes of some type instead of a traditional fried shrimp, but she said that they tasted good. Our original server ended their shift after we got our appetizer, so our meals were brought to us by the chef, who I assume is the wife in a husband-wife operation maybe? I hope the server got the tip we left, because they were very friendly and attentive. The gentleman behind the desk served our bill at the end of the meal and chatted with us for a bit, so he was friendly after all.My food was so good that I’ll definitely be returning because there are other things on the menu that I want to try.

Wonderful Gem???Pros- Quiet, calm, spacious dining area. Great customer service, friendly & attentive staff. Affordable, great value for the amount of food, safe easy to find location, *FREE & convenient parking!* The Book nook area is a unique and brilliant idea! As a homeschool family we were so pleased to see such a plethora of books, and movies at such a great price. Absolutely recommend and we will return! :)cons- NoneVegetarian options: Most items allowed for substitutions and our server offered to hold back the eggs to make one of our dishes just veggies.Parking: There's free parking in the lot behind the building and along the street.Wheelchair accessibility: The dining room is spacious and comfortably arranged so wheelchairs and walkers can easily navigate them.

Delicious and authentic Thai food that is absolutely excellent and harder to find if you live in a smaller town like Bastrop. This place had been my go-to for Thai food since I moved here. Always order the beef Pad see ew and fried rice, absolutely
