Came here for the first time and totally understand the wait! Excellent staff and great food!
Usually a wait, but the breakfast is good, and taste homemade.

Food was good but not worth the wait. We went on a Sunday at brunch and had to wait 1h 20m for a table of 4. The estimate was 30 min. A hot spot like this should have a better idea of wait times IMO
There seemed to be other tasty food on Main Street, we should've picked another restaurant.

Hands down best chicken fried steak I’ve ever gotten! Waitress was amazing (worked there for 15 years and steered us to best choices)

Went to breakfast with my grandmother and my two kids last weekend while my grandmother visited us from South Carolina, made a reservation online the day before and everything was perfect. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was great but what really set them apart was the customer service. The waitresses were so kind, took the time to play around with my girls, they have plastic adhesive food mats for baby’s and toddlers so they can eat without getting the table super messy, and even coloring pages with crayons! At then end of the breakfast I was starting to get a little overwhelmed by my kids behavior (as one tends to do with a 5 year old and 1 year old) but one of the waitress’s came up to me and was so sweet, encourage me as a mom and let me know that everything was okay and nobody was bothered by my kids being kids. I will 100% be coming back! 10/10 stars ✨
I had -by far- the worst latter I have ever had in USA. It was boiling hot, tasteless and $7.25. I sacrificed myself for you…do not ever had coffee in this place.
Gumbo was fair, fried seafood wasn't very fresh or good. No need to revisit

Maxines is what small town diner should be. Charming, small town vibe, old school, servers floating around and chatting it up and great home cooking.
Has it all.

Maxine's leans in hard on the old country charm of downtown Bastrop. Gives strong farm house vibes.
But in the midst of that, you can order Snoop's favorite breakfast. And if you don't know what that is, I sure as hell ain't gonna be the one to tell you.
But I'll tell you this: I've enjoyed Snoop's favorite breakfast in his specific favorite restaurant (Roscoe's in LA) and while this version has some notable differences, the quality and overall enjoyment is on point.
The most noticeable difference is that Roscoe's assumes that all of their customers are 500+lbs. So, you know you're going to have leftovers. You would actually die if you tried to eat a whole plate by yourself there. Maxine's serves a very generous portion, but you can finish it without needing life support or a MedEvac after.
I'm going to say something heretical right now: Maxine's does a better job with the bottom ingredient (no, I'm really not saying what it is if you don't know!). That part stood out as being truly exceptional rather than just being an edible plate for the top ingredient. So, here it is: All things considered, I would honestly choose Maxine's over Roscoe's. There it is. I said it. Go try the chicken & waffles at Maxine's, yall!
