Top 5 BBQ places i have ever eaten at!!!! I have been to a lot. Homemade bbq sauce, not needed dry rub and smoke alone so good. Come early or they start running out. Out of all homemade sausage, brisket and burnt ends when we arrived. All sides are fantastic.

4 stars for price...Would be 6 stars if rated only on taste, atmosphere and friendliness. Brisket was AMAZING, as was the sample of turkey they gave us. Brisket, by the pound was $34, ribs were $96. But really very good.

Thank you for an outstanding meal at the UBS Beaumont office on Go Texan Day! We appreciate everyone’s effort making it a fun work day for our employees, when you know they wanted to be outside in the beautiful weather drinking a cold one with that great BBQ. ?? ? ?

Great spot! We ordered the brisket and jalapeño cheddar sausage. Both were incredible! Also got the pot beans, green beans, potatoe salad and Mac and cheese. Delicious! The potatoe salad was incredible! The pit beans were amazing! Some of the best mac and cheese I have ever had. The green beans were good but a little sweet for my taste. I will have dreams about that incredible sausage. I really enjoyed the brisket also but I prefer it to be a little bit juicer. Over-all, an absolutely delicious experience! I would recommend. We had a 5 minute wait to order. Friendly staff. Check them out!

Cute little place (maybe a gas station before?). Painted brick and concrete floors. Meats served on aluminum trays as is the standard for bbq restaurants these days. Meats are priced by the 1/2 pound. Sides are generous serving sizes so easily shared and at $5 each makes sense. I think next time i would ask the servings be split with 2 items in one cardboard boat for each of us. Not sure that they will but it would make sense to separate especially if not eating with your other half but you want to try more than one side. We had the pepper jack macaroni and potato salad. Both really good. I had jalapeño and cheese sausage, husband had brisket. Also very good. The bbq sauce was unique and flavorful, 5/5. A bit thin but flavor spot on. They didn't have brewed tea. Negative for me. No DP either. Strike 2. Bottled water it is at TWO FIFTY! Yeah....bottled water 2.50. I get it with other flavored drinks but really? Anyway, food was solid and we would go back.

This is the best barbecue in Beaumont. It is also incredibly expensive. The atmosphere is excellent, but I would prefer to have fountain drinks instead of canned or plastic bottles. There have been times I arrived too late, and they were sold out. Overall, excellent food, but be prepared to mortgage the house to pay for it.

Saw this place on Yelp and decided to try it! We took it to go. Home was 45 minutes away - and the food was wonderful - even cold! The people were super friendly! So glad we tried this place out!

It was a pleasure to have lunch at 1701 barbecue! My parents and I are from Brazil and we were visiting Texas. We tried many different barbecues during our trip, and this was definitely the best one. Their brisket was amazing. Mr. Trevis was extremely gentle and even showed us how their food is made. Thank you very much for your receptivity!

Without a doubt, the BEST BBQ joint in town. The service was both swift and exceptional. To secure our meal before they ran out of food, we opted for online ordering, which proved to be incredibly user-friendly. Despite the bustling crowd upon our arrival, the staff worked efficiently with cheerful smiles. A solid 5/5 or 10/10 – I can't recommend it enough. We'll definitely return!

The short: great bbq, amazing friendly staff, hidden gem.I travel to Beaumont every month for work, coming from Houston where there’s plentiful bbq joints serving up various styles of the craft.Travis (owner) and his staff really caught me by surprise with what they are serving the local community. I couldn’t try the brisket as they had sold out, but was able to try turkey and a beef rib. Both which were some of the best I’ve had, easily the best in this area.If you are in the area, this place is definitely worth the visit. Will be back soon !

1701 BBQ is well deserving of their Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ restaurants in Texas award! I randomly came here for lunch on a Sat because I had some work in Beaumont. Coming from Houston, and eating BBQ all over the country, I was impressed with 1701 BBQ. Don't believe the few negative reviews of this place, give it a shot and see for yourself. Walking in, the place is very nice and clean. They sell some merchandise and bottled bbq sauce. You order from the counter, and generally order the meat by the pound and sides after that. I tried a 1/4 lb of moist brisket, pork ribs, jalapeno cheese sausage, and turkey. For sides, I had their smothered collard greens and pepper jack mac n cheese. Everything was outstanding. My favorite thing though was their pork ribs. They were super tender to where they came off the bone clean, but they didn't fall off on their own. When you bit into it, there was still that good rib meat texture, but soft and juicy. Their rub is very peppery which I love. When you pair it with their tangy bbq sauce, it was perfect. Don't skip out on their sides as well. The collard greens were loaded with bacon and that mac n cheese was the creamiest I've had in awhile. The only thing I wish I tried was their dessert, but I was too full. Overall, 1701 BBQ is probably the best bbq in Beaumont. While it is pricier compared to other bbq joints, they do try to maintain really high quality standards. I'd 10/10 recommend them, enjoy! PS. The only thing I thought was a little odd was that I was never given any onions, pickles, jalapenos, or bread that usually comes standard at other bbq joints. I took this as a small mistake though.
