First off the food was amazing. You can tell it’s quality ingredients and everything is freshly prepared. For that I would give 6 stars if I could. My issue is with the owner, and is the reason I would not recommend the restaurant. I have a service animal and went to eat lunch there. I do not mind someone asking me about my service animal to inquire if it is indeed a legit service animal due to the number of people that abuse the system. However, instead of just asking me-she kept peeking around the corner staring at me and when I went to get my food instead of addressing me, she addressed the person with me asking “if I had papers proving this is a service animal”. And demanded that “I have something on to show he is a service dog”. I would have gladly taken the opportunity to educate her on Federal and Texas law regarding service animals in establishments, however she was not interested and was extremely rude and dismissive to anything I had to say. For her sake, I hope she takes the time to brush up on ADA and learns what she can and can’t ask someone who has a disability or she could potentially face a discrimination lawsuit. For short reference no a service animal does not have to wear anything showing that he/she is a service animal. I choose to do that to make it easier on the establishments we go into. Also there is no “certification” that proves if an animal is indeed a service animal. Because my disability is not readily apparent, the staff or manager may inquire by asking two (and only these two questions) 1: is the service animal required because of a disability? 2: what type of work is the service animal trained to perform? Sadly this whole situation could have been avoided if she would have allowed me to speak-so I am hoping she takes the time to read this review.

Elegant, simple, beautifully plated food that satisfies everyone from lunch in ladies to refinery operators. What would Southeast Texas do without Katharine??

Katharine and Company is my favorite lunch spot in Beaumont! Everything is delicious and freshly made. Their First Thursday dinner events are always a highlight for us.

I don’t go out to lunch often but this is the place! Love the atmosphere in the Mildred Building. Always see friends out here, always busy but never feels crowded. The specials are recommended and the little fruit tarts are my favorite!

Fabulous food and great atmosphere.

Was not impressed with my tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich. The place was packed so I am assuming that I just ordered the wrong thing at this establishment. I ordered a cupcake but it was forgettable. I will try this place again but will ask others who are eating already about their dishes before I placed my order. It has great atmosphere.

Never paid much attention to Katherine and Company until we stopped there for a business lunch. Their menu has a large selection of sandwiches as well as a few plate lunches. The sandwich I ordered was delicious and well put together. Service was acceptable, although they do not have servers that visit your table. Orders are placed at the counter, and your name is called when ready. Overall, it was a great experience, and I plan to return.

Hands down, the best sandwich I've had in Beaumont since moving here. The pecan crusted chicken on focaccia was amazing and so flavorful. I ordered the chicken soup with lime to go with it and a hibiscus tea. Both were so great. In an area that is deep into fatty and fried foods, this is such a welcome experience. This is what Jason's Deli tries to be, but fails.

Great place, really good food

Quaint cafe-type eatery in historic bldg. Not much else to say, other than the salad I had made me very sick within a few minutes of leaving the establishment. Oops!
