Rao's was a treat to find! Not being from the Beaumont area, we decided to take a chance one day and try something new while we were in town. It didn't disappoint. It's a cozy place to just sit and chat while enjoying some amazing food, coffee, or tea.

Waited 10min to be acknowledged & told someone would be with us in a few minutes... another 2 to be waited on and then it was with a little attitude as if we were interrupting her. She explained that there was only one cashier & she was waiting on someone (it appeared as if she were helping the drive thru as she kept touching her headset).Nope, too many other employees walking around behind the counter. I can get this kind of service at Walmart or HEB bakery. So I guess that is where I will start getting my cakes.

My fiance doesn’t drink coffee so when we heard about a jelly bean Italian soda he wanted to try it. We ordered it and nothing was said at the register. As we waited for our drink the ladies making coffee were debating what went into this drink. What we got was basically just sugar water. I typed in “jelly bean Italian soda” on google and first thing that popped up is Rao’s facebook page on how to make this Italian soda. We wish they would’ve just offered to make something else rather than give us this stuff… left is how they advertise and right is what we got.

I have been a customer of Rao's since there was only the original on Calder. However, for the past several years every single time I come into Rao's on Dowlen, the booths in particular are monopolized by a single person, on their computers and they have stayed as long as I've been here which is up to and over an hour. Many times without an order. Or someone brushes by and drops their purse or computer bag on the table and then hurries to get in line before anyone else. The only reason I'm even saying anything today is because I've recently had back surgery and these happened to me today, leaving me to sit in an uncomfortable hardback chair. I also witnessed an older gentleman with a cane in the same predicament. This is making me to not want to come here anymore. There are plenty of up and coming small owner coffee shops who will welcome the business. I understand the principle of first come first served, however it seems these people have moved in. Thank you, once a frequent customer.
Great place to study and you can rent the back room out for meetings or special events. Ham and cheese croissant is excellent. Their coffee and key lime pie are also on point amazing!

Everything is fresh and delicious. Awesome coffee. Sweets, sandwiches, staff is always friendly. They have wifi and cozy feel to the place always busy but worth the wait. It takes longer to decide on what to order than the wait.

Went there on Sunday to get a cake for my mom’s birthday but I wasn’t sure of which cake she wanted, the young lady grace helped me find a cake that my mom loved! The Italian cream cake, definitely will be returning soon! Also gave me a free cake slicer! Highly recommend this place!

This bakery has been nothing short of a blessing. I was in a very desperate situation for my best friend’s gender reveal. Mom is in Lubbock Tx while Dad is in Beaumont for school. All she wanted was to have a sweet gender reveal for the both of them even when they are miles apart.
I had called SEVERAL bakeries to see what could be done in such a short amount of time… they ALL responded with no or “we don’t do that”. God bless this bakery and STEVE for helping us all out for what’s supposed to be a beautiful day. Steve not only is offering anything and everything to make sure the father gets his gender reveal cookie, but is also keeping this location open just for him to make sure this cookie can be received. Thanks to this bakery mom and dad get to find out the gender as if they were in the same room!🩷

Stopped in tonight for a few gifts for a meeting tomorrow & was greeted with a smile and hug from the Totorice family. Jett went above and beyond customizing the perfect gifts for me giving it the personal touch! Walking in the location felt like gathering with family and friends over sweet treats!

Beware! the Red Velvet cake does not have cream cheese icing!!! I ordered a red velvet cake for my Dad’s bday and it did not come as described. No cream cheese icing or filling like the description says. Instead it had regular white sugar icing throughout. Isn’t cream cheese icing standard on a red velvet cake?
Not worth $35

When your primary business is selling food and drinks for consumption on the premises, every patron needs to have access to wash their hands. Restaurant losing one star for having restrooms locked. Big inconvenience for customer. It is not as if this restaurant is in a sketchy part of town where homeless are going to come camp in the restrooms. Besides that, the brownie, cupcakes, and creme brulee were excellent. Both the regular black tea and the flavored tea were both terrible. Black tea was still still not acceptable with four packs of Sweet and low and flavored tea was watered down. You're in the South; stop being fancy and just make good tea.
