Dustin was a great server! And the food was delicious. I ordered the cucumber avocado roll and added cream cheese had it tempura fried. It was perfect. I also ordered the sweet potato roll. It’s perfect as is and I order it every time.

We paid for 2 adult all you can eat and they also charged us for 5 more rolls separately, why? If they are not included in all you can eat, the waiter should inform us.

I have no issues with the food quality but when I go to an all you can eat, I shouldn't leave hungry. It feels like they pace you on purpose with very small portions and waiter takes there time coming to get your next order. The first time we ate, we figured it was "the just opened jitters and all" for the wait staff, but we went 2 months later and it was more of the same. Sooooo, we will continue to drive to Yuka in Nederland for our sushi fix.

First, I apologize for not sharing any photos. I left my phone in the car and honestly had a better time because of it. Highly suggest it when you can.
So this is the former Logan’s Roadhouse and the decor has been completely changed as you would expect. It has a similar vibe as Yuka in Port Arthur but they are definitely a little different and offer unique items with their sushi rolls, appetizers and then some.
With that, they have the all-you can-eat (AYCE) service, but they also have regular a la carte items. Everything that we tried during this visit were great.
One thing that was clearly different is the portions with the AYCE service. The appetizers were tiny, at least the Jalapeno Yellowfin was, but it was an excellent flavor experience as was the Mango Salmon. Sashimi cuts were 1/4 inch thick slices (maybe less) and about 1 inch by 1 inch squares, give or take a little. They were excellent quality, but small, so you may want to order more than normal. I would ask first on the portion sizing to be sure they don’t make adjustments between this writing and the time you visit.
Of the various sushi rolls we tried, many were unique to their establishment and we had nothing negative to say about them. I wasn’t taking notes but some that come to mind that were interesting and enjoyable were the I-10 Roll, Little Tokyo Roll, 225 Roll and Shaggy Dog Roll. As with the sashimi, the sushi rolls were a little smaller than you would expect from other sushi joints but it was very satisfying regardless. You were able to enjoy more of their varieties on offer and not feel terrible for eating so much before leaving.
It was my stepson’s birthday and his great-grandfather joined us. He never had sushi before and enjoyed everything he tried too. You aren’t supposed to share but we slipped him a few pieces of sushi and sashimi that he found interesting and tore it up. For what it’s worth, my wife commented that she hadn’t seen him eat that much in a while. He had ordered the teriyaki red snapper from the menu and it was like several smaller fillet pieces of marinated snapper that had a nice golden brown sear. He shared some of it with us and we both agreed it was really good. Not as thick of a cut I like to see with snapper but for the price it was worth it.
One other thing that made this experience unique was the fact that they offer your first adult beverage free with the AYCE service. With a draft beer, that equates to a very large 22 ounce pour. Imports are a dollar up charge. That being said, they have a bar. The only interesting whiskey I saw was Eagle Rare, Bulleit American Single Malt and something from Suntory, I think it was called Toki.
Our main waitress was excellent. Very informative, patient and helped make great selections. Given the size of our party of 10 and the general fast pace a place like this has to have, we had about 5 different people dedicated to our table. Some of their English is a little difficult to understand so it can get a little dicey when they are trying to call out the order and people at the table are engaged in conversation that placed the order. The waitress wasn’t able to be there the entire time but when she was she was making the assist to get the order to the one who placed it. I should mention that there were two other much larger parties in the same space as us, one was somewhere around 20 and then another near 30.
Hopefully Sushi Masa can keep up and survive the Beaumont Boredom Curse, you know…where a new place blows up for the first several months and then has to shut down because we’re bored with it and force them to shut down. They have multiple locations along the Gulf Coast in Florida, Louisiana and Texas, even on up into Plano so they must have a robust business model. I liked it a little better than Yuka, which I haven’t reviewed yet, but I’ll check them out again and post something.
