Food was great and the service was great. Was a little expensive 50.00 for two people and I think the portion size should be just a little more for the price, but it’s enough food to feel satisfied. I will definitely come again when I want some home cooked breakfast.

Excellent breakfast and brunch place to eat. Food is always fresh and satisfying. The pancakes are better than any place I 've been yet

This building opens in 1965 as Sizzler Steak House, and they would continue operating that way until 1995 when Sizzler pulled out of this state. They never missed a beat, and just kept on operating it as Carl Patterson’s steak house until 2010 when he elected to close it wanting to change cuisines. It sat there about a year vacant until a man with other very successful comfort food restaurants across the metro area leased the building and opened it back up as the Buttermilk Café. He got it out of the starting gate at record speed, and it was up and running in nothing flat and the customers came back quickly. Since that time it’s been sold twice I believe and although they can’t decide if they are going to do dinner or not, they have been there for breakfast and lunch since the beginning. I’ve supported the place because they produce a decent meal at an affordable price. I can’t review this place without mentioning the star of the show in the kitchen, a man named Alfredo. He is the heartbeat of this place, and he ought to own it. He’s able to run that kitchen whether business is brisk or slow, and the food coming through the window is consistent. They are going to offer you breakfast with delicious biscuits they made that morning, then on into lunch where they offer the standard entrée with two side items, and they have lots of things to choose from. They are a little different than their competitors in that they don’t count the salad or soup as a side item, and that comes with your meal. They also offer reduced portions for those of us aged enough that less is actually more. They are extremely generous in their portions, where an example would be about 6 slices of bacon with your breakfast. Unless feeding teenagers, whatever you get is going to be too much, and they use a lot of to-go packaging, because no human should eat that much. Since 2010 when they opened I’ve had to return something to the kitchen for correction maybe once or twice. They are extremely predictable and a very good value. The table servers in there are experienced, and handle their part of the deal very professionally. They have a banquet like area for small groups and meetings which gather there from time to time. They keep the place clean, or at least the front of the house. I’ve never seen any bugs in there, or anything that is out of line when we dine out. It’s not corporate owned, and I do prefer entrepreneurs over corporate America. They get the job done pretty well, and their crowd reflects it. I do recommend them for comfort food similar to home made recipes, but they are all made in the café. Unless you are just super picky if you give them a try, you’ll come back later for another meal. But, Alfredo in the kitchen gets a huge portion of the credit for the success of this place. The awning claiming ‘BREAKFAST LUNCH DINNER’ is a bit obsolete as they close at 14:30 daily. This is 100% my own opinion and they have done absolutely nothing to influence my opinion.

Classic American diner with all that entails, good and bad. Their daily specials were great. I haven't checked/tried them since Covid so I don't know if they still have them. I particularly like Chicken Fried Steak special days. They will host small groups if you care to meet there, as our Homeowners Association has done.
