I learned something new. We just moved to the Bedford area and we tried this pub for a date night. We love little bars like this, but did not know that smoking was allowed in bars in bedford. So just before warned if you choose to try this place. They had a patio area and we chose to sit out there because of the smoking, and it was a pleasant evening. They have a fish and chips special for happy hour which we were anxious to try and we're glad we did as the fish was very good. The chips were nothing to write home about but did taste good. Good choices of draft beer and the people that work there were very friendly we really enjoyed our visit. They also have fried mushrooms which is one of my favorite appetizers and these were excellent.

I go for the food. I've been frustrated that there seems to be no quick/reliable way to get good fish and chips around the mid-cities. Last time I went to LJS, the "fish" was literally about 2 millimeters of white in the middle of a greasy overdone batter. And everyone else seems to be as bad. Not Danny's. This is exactly what I missed from a good Essex chippie. Fillets up to the first joint on your thumb and a bit more, great batter, perfectly done...it's the real deal. Add newspaper and I'd swear it was 1970.
The drinks are good, but the bar is always chocker block and you need to change your medical history from non-smoker to smoker if you spend an hour there. NP; I'll be sure to pack the vape next time. Google says it's not busy until 2pm, which is true for the seating, but the bar is already at capacity by then (at least on all the days I went). Good drink prices, prompt attentive service, I guess they can only do so much with the architecture. Maybe have a "neutral zone" between the two that functions as a bar area until it becomes restaurant seating later? Then bar seating even later...

I don’t like to throw out 5-stars all willie-nilly but we had a worthy experience today. I went in with a couple coworkers for a late lunch, the first time for each of us to try this mid-cities neighborhood pub. Our server Sylvia was dynamite! The fish and chips were damn good as well, and at $8 on Friday special it’s hard to beat. Smoking is allowed indoors which is wild for us Fort Worthians but it only added to the excellent atmosphere. Excellent batter on the cod although a tad overcooked. Waffle fries instead of true English chips. The slaw was solid but the tarter sauce really stole the show. We’ll return next week! 🍻 UPDATE: Stopped in today and had another great experience. Sylvia's bar was full but she had it completely handled. The waffle fries have been changed to a more traditional-esqe English-style chip which is a big improvement. UPDATE (11/15/2024): These guys killed it again. Sam the bartender was spot on and a pro server. Randy fried up a PERFECT filet. 👍👍
Vegetarian options: Have some slaw and chips, ya filthy wanker!

Parking: We were able to park right up front.

My friend & I tried this place out last night. We did not know it allowed smoking. We almost walked out. I had previously looked on their website & I didn't see anything about smoking. Once we were there, I looked again. It was all the way at the bottom, who scrolls all the way down?! The service was so-so waited a bit to order our food & our appetizer came when we were almost done with our dinner. The food was so-so as well. My friend had the surf & turf special, & I had the club. The soda also didn't taste right. Needless to say, we will not be back. I had saw other reviews of how great the service was, maybe our server had an off day, or we just weren't looked after due to not regulars?
