The chicken didn’t have flavor, the Brisket was dry, the sausage was delicious. For myself, wife and son we spent $150.00. That’s $50 each.

After returning from a trip we were craving Texas BBQ and headed to Schmidt Family Barbecue. It was an early lunch and the place was not busy yet and ordered Smoked Turkey Breast, Kreuz Original Sausage, Potato Salad, and sweet tea. The staff were great in preparing our order.
The turkey smelled great and had great flavor. With the white slices of bread going to me I was able to make two sandwiches. The sausage had great flavor and juicy with a spicy kick to it. Overall a great home style BBQ meal I had been missing.
The place is very casual and has a large dining area for both small and large parties. You can also enter from the back walking by the pit giving you a nice BBQ experience.

I reviewed this place 8 years ago complaining about cold food. I tried it again today and was equally as disappointed. For the price I expected some really good barbecue but I was ultimately disappointed. I don't mind paying for food meat but my brisket sandwich was dry and almost inedible, but I struggled through it due to the price. The sides were the warmest part of the meal, but they were way over priced. Probably will be back again in another 8 years and will be disappointed again.

I'll preface by saying the food was fine and I had no issues with it. Was it the best BBQ I've ever had? Not really even close, but it wasn't bad at all. That being said the price -> quality level is INSANE. I got a chopped beef sandwich, Mac n cheese, and a drink... $33!!!! For 33 bucks i could go 500 feet down the road to HEB and get a whole brisket to cook myself that would be better. 33 bucks is expensive even for a 2 meat plate much less approach sandwich!

Good 1st stop for an intro to Texas Hill Country BBQ
I have been here twice the first time I ordered the 2 meat plate with brisket and sausage which was very good. Today I went and ordered the 2 meat plate with brisket and turkey. The brisket was as good as the first time with a very strong flavor. The turkey on the other hand had an odd texture and was very salty. I ended up throwing away half of that part of my meal. I don't recommend the turkey here. I did try the banana pudding today as well which did not disappoint it had a good flavor and consistency. I only wish they would add the wafers when it was ordered so they are crunchy instead of soggy personal preference on that. So to recap I don't recommend the turkey but I do recommend the sausage, brisket, and banana pudding. P.s. if you order brisket don't forget to tell them what kind you want lean or fatty they will accommodate you on this request if they can.

A nice BBQ joint, brisket was flavorful, Cole slaw and scalloped potatoes tasty. The ice tea was properly made. Staff was friendly and helpful. Price $20 which is a good value for Texas BBQ meal. Clean modern facility which I’m sure always passes the health inspection. I would certainly return here to try more of the items on the menu! Recommend!
