We expected a little more, given the reviews and the location. I ordered the tacos al carbon, always an indicator of how well a restaurant seasons and cooks beef. They were fine. Not great, not awful, and the serving size was good.

The refried beans had a very acidic flavor, and we both gave them a miss. The salsas they brought out initially were very watery and flavorless. When I complained, they replaced them with salsas that were thicker and more flavorful.

What a great place off the beaten path! The food was superior, like Mamma was cooking all the dishes in the kitchen. Portions were perfect, very satisfying, and my Pollo Adobado entree was so good, the ancho chile sauce was a perfect blend of spices with the Ancho pepper as the main flavor. Nice big margaritas and a good selection of beers. Service was wonderful. The waiter helped us decided on dinner choices and told us that the owner has had this family restaurant going for...

Such a wonderful hidden gem in Houston! The owner was so kind and fast with his service, the food was fresh and rich, and the atmosphere was comforting and intimate! I will be coming back soon. Thanks for taking care of me :)
