We drive from Houston just to get the kolaches and gingerbread men. This place has been around longer than I've been around and quality has never suffered. You should also book a stay at Newman's Castle!
Friendly staff, good quality food, and bakery items, a definite must on your travels. Don't be in a hurry or you will miss the experience of the old style diner and small town atmosphere.
First time at Newman's Bakery. I believe they close at 3pm. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich, which was huge! Cut in half I shared with my daughter. It came with a drink, chips, and they threw in a doughnut. The sandwich had a tad too much mayo in it, but it was good. I probably would have chosen something different. The bread was homemade and good! We also got a few pastries. Got to get there early to get some kolaches! They also had cookies too. It's a cute little...
