This was my second time dining here for lunch on a Saturday within the past month. While a wait for burgers is understandable, the wait for basic condiments was frustrating and felt dismissive. When my meal was delivered, I immediately requested mustard, but that request was ignored. I then watched my server attend to other tables, deliver checks, and complete side work while my food sat untouched and grew cold. Even after flagging her down a second time, I continued waiting as other guests were cashed out and checks were delivered.

Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to enjoy my meal, which soured what should have been a pleasant lunch with my daughter. Spending $45 for a slow kitchen and a cold burger is disappointing, and this experience has left me discouraged from returning.

Had the cheeseburger & fries during their dinner service. Large portions & cheeseburger was cooked to perfection! Fries were fresh & crispy! The server was friendly & very accommodating. The atmosphere is cozy with a beautiful bar of their freshly baked pastries! I had got a slice of the diner cake & it was to die for & big enough to share!

Had dinner on Friday after parade. The place was crazy crowded so I had to wait to be seated for a little, but I still had a great meal with great service. The owner even came to my table to check on us and chat for a little. I love this place and highly recommend it!!

An overall abysmal & disappointing evening in what we had hoped would be a fun & festive birthday dinner. I called earlier in the week to make a dinner reservation for that Friday evening & said we were interested in the wine pairing menu. Upon entering, it was very chaotic. Lots of folks were milling around, as the parade was occurring that same evening. I finally connected with someone & stated I had a reservation. They couldn’t find my reservation anywhere, but said they could still seat us, but that there’d be a 30 minute wait for food. We said that was ok & had planned on simply enjoying a glass of wine to bide the time. We were seated by an extremely rude waitress, given the special winter pairing menu & weren’t approached for ~20 minutes (at which point we were given water). At about the 30 minute mark, we were able to order a bottle of wine (we just picked a bottle that was listed on the pairing menu, as that was the only menu we were given). After we received the wine, we ordered our pairing (we’d all planned to do the tasting menu with the wine pairings, however the delay in everything led us to just order the food). It took a solid 30+ minutes to get our 1st course (soup), of which my soup was lukewarm at best. After finishing, it took another ~30 minutes for our plates to be cleared & our 2nd course to be served. We then waited again until it got to a point where we’d been seated for over 2 hours with only 2 courses. We were hungry & decided to leave before our 3rd & 4th course had come out (after leaving cash on the table).

I’m the owner of a small downtown business myself, so my level of patience & understanding tends to be higher than most. But unfortunately The Gathery missed the mark multiple times. From the rude waitress, to the multiple tables that were seated after us (but served first), to the subpar food, to the lack of apology or even sheer acknowledgment that we existed.

I would have loved to give this place a better review. We sat for 15 minutes before being acknowledged and waited over an hour for our appetizer. We watched table after table of others who showed up after us get served but we were still waiting on our main course while others who sat after us were leaving. As a restaurant owner I understand the challenges of small town employees but there were a hundred things they could have done to make this a better experience. Highly disappointed in driving all the way here to only have 2 courses of an advertised 4 course menu which we had reservations for. Food was ok but the service made for such a very bad experience I would not recommend to anyone. Would have loved to taste the rest but we had to leave as we were starving.

Amazing dinner at The Gathery Cafe last night! Every dish was beautifully executed — fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and perfect textures. You can tell the kitchen cooks with real intention. Service was warm, knowledgeable, and perfectly timed. Truly an elevated farm-to-table experience with small-town charm. Can’t wait to come back!

Absolutely amazing dinner experience at The Gathery Cafe!
Last night’s service was truly outstanding from start to finish. The moment we walked in, we felt the warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes this place so special. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable — they made sure everything was perfect without ever feeling rushed.

The food was next-level. Fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Every dish tasted like it was crafted with real care and creativity. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in using high-quality ingredients. Our drinks were great, the pacing was smooth, and the entire meal felt elevated yet comfortable.

The Gathery Cafe is such a gem in Bellville — cozy, stylish, and truly gourmet farm-to-table vibes. We loved everything about our experience and will absolutely be back. Highly recommend for anyone looking for amazing food, genuine hospitality, and a memorable evening!

Amazing restaurant. Great food and amazing service. Being a scratch kitchen it obviously takes time to make the food but it is well worth it and the ambiance is the best anywhere around. The waitstaff is amazing and so friendly. The owners are awesome and care so much for each person who comes through the door. If you have never eaten at the Gathery you are missing out.

If you going here make sure you have some time. Very slow. But while your wait be sure to check out the little shop area inside. The food tasted good when they finally got all of it to me. They did forget parts of my food order, twice. The building is cute and renovated nicely. And all the staff was friendly, just a little understaffed??

We live nearby and my daughter and I decided to try this restaurant. It was a Thursday afternoon We Waited for over 30 minutes Before a waiter stopped and asked us what we wanted to drink. She didn’t look us in the eye or face. She was looking everywhere else like as if we were bothering her. When she brought the drinks back, she placed them on the edge of the table? and then waited about 40 minutes for our food. The only reason we waited is because I had an appointment in the area. The food was Luke warm. Our server never greeted us never came back to check on us. It was the most horrible, unwelcome experience that I could honestly say in my entire life at any establishment.. I do not recommend this place , I do not recommend this place if you are brown or black or any race besides white. While we are waiting for our food and drinks, I seen white - customers arrive they were greeted, They were seated and receive their food promptly. Do not eat here because you will be discriminated against. Dont waste your time or money.

This is a must if you are in Bellville. It is my Go-To.

Food is always fresh and tasty.

The ambience of the place is perfect. Captures downtown Bellville exactly how you wanna experience the town.

Lastly the staff is All-Time….FULL -Disclosure I am Bias, I just moved into town and I am trying to make friends. They really make the entire experience complete, with their kindness and Texas Hospitality.

See you there,

Gabriel
