This is my go-to lunch staple! The food is always on point, service is great, and the portions are big enough to provide a take home meal for dinner 😜.
I picked up food to go for my son and I today. This was our first time eating here, and I can tell you it will now definitely be one we frequent often. The food was so good and the staff was extremely friendly. I had the Italiano and it was amazing! My son got the OG spud and mozzarella sticks and he said it was really good. Great portion sizes too. I highly recommend!
Tucked away like a well-kept secret just off the main drag of Borger, Julio’s Subs & Spuds is one of those little joints that sneaks up on you. It’s not flashy, not trying to win any architectural awards, and hell—it might even look like the kind of place where your sandwich is wrapped in a conspiracy theory. But trust me… it’s worth the detour.
Let’s start with the basics: the subs are fresh. You’re not biting into some day-old, soggy bread nightmare like at the chains. I had the turkey sub—solid, dependable, like your uncle who shows up to family events sober but leaves with a lampshade on his head. It wasn’t life-changing. I didn’t grow a third eye or start levitating. But it was better than Subway, which these days feels like someone just gave up on flavor and said, “Here’s some wet lettuce. Good luck, kid.”
Now I’ll be honest—there’s a bit of a wait. And when you’re out here working 7 days a week, 13.5-hour shifts that make coal miners look like part-timers, every damn minute counts. I nearly had to sprint back to work with mustard on my chin like a war paint stripe. So yeah, that wait? Kinda soured the sub experience.
BUT THEN… like a Tarantino twist mid-movie… enter the Mak Attack baked potato.
Jesus, Mary, and melted cheddar—this thing was unholy in the best way. A loaded baked potato with mac and cheese, bacon, and ranch? At first I thought, “This is how I die. This is the last thing my arteries will remember.” But no, I didn’t die. I ascended. I devoured it so completely there wasn’t a sliver of potato skin left. I cleaned that plate like a starving raccoon with a vendetta.
Regrets? Just one. I didn’t go back sooner. I kept chasing that drive-thru dragon like an idiot. But next time I’m near Julio’s, I’m pulling in, ordering the Mak Attack, and letting that carb-loaded masterpiece ruin my day in the best way possible.
Final Verdict:
If you’ve got the time, skip the big-box subs and hit Julio’s. Go for the spuds. Go for the taste. Stay for the flavor coma.
Absolutely AMAZING food! Love getting food here! Y’all rock! 😊🤗

so i’m not from borger i was actually just passing through for work but me and my gf were hungry.
so we looked up some spots online and seen this place had a 4.9 out of 5 stars. so it has to be good right?
wrong. we went in at about 5, they close at 6 and they had no potatoes ready. we had to wait almost 40 minutes just to get our food. and that’s because it was supposed to be a quick lunch cause i still had work to finish. but like it took about 40 minutes to get the food.
also the lady upfront wasn’t very nice. we tried to ask her about the menu items that were good and she said all of them. i felt like i was being rushed.
she seemed to have a bit of an attitude and wasn’t too friendly, but when another customer of the same race walked in she was extra friendly and nice to him. pretty weird. i also ordered a bottled coke, but i figured the food would take a few minutes so i left it in the fridge to stay cooled. fortunately i was right cause it ended up taking 40 minutes like i said.
then when the food did come out, i went to grab the coke i payed for and the lady assumed i was getting another drink. i had to explain myself to her and tell her that i had already payed, that i had left it in the fridge because the food took so long.
the potatoes were definitely not worth the price.
and if you add in the wait time they’re definitely not worth it.
payed over 40$ and all i could taste on the potato was ranch.
i also ordered a chipotle chicken sub that seemed to be missing the chipotle cause all i could taste was dry chicken.
idk how this place has such a high review score, they must know the people commenting or something.
i feel scammed because the reviews made it seem so good but it wasn’t at all.
save your time and your money guys.
and since i can’t reply i figured i’d just add to this to respond to what you said. all you recommended to do was add chicken to everything. that’s literally it.
and WOWWWWWW, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR GOING OUT OF YOUR WAY AS A BUSINESS TO GET ME FIVES!!! 🥹
i didn’t think id have to be thankful for that. also i don’t mind ones. what am i supposed to say if my foods taking long? can you hurry up pls? i have to work?
that makes no sense. you can say she checked on our table but she really was just out in the lobby checking on the little girl that was in there.
which i’m assuming was her daughter. i never once said it was good. that’s a lie. my gf said it was good to be nice. i never once said that.
my recordings show me showing up at around 5:08 and i didn’t leave until around 6.
i barely ate anything so you can’t say it’s because i was eating.
if potatoes are in high demand why wouldn’t you have some ready already? or be prepared?
that’s a weak argument. we probably seen 3 customers pull up in that whole hour.
that’s not very busy.
so you start baking the potato when people order?
that’s funny 😂
what quality?
idk what you’re talking about.
i’m not a confrontational person so.
and the lady upfront was already rude and seemed to have an attitude so why would i say anything?
she’s an owner?
that’s crazy.
i couldn’t tell.
she seemed unhappy to be there.
I absolutely love this place! The Philly is incredible—perfectly flavorful and satisfying. Every soup I’ve tried has been delicious, and the spuds are even better—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and packed with flavor. Highly recommend!
Chicken parmigiana sub is my all time go to! Today I let them talk me into getting the cheese fries loaded and that’s my now new favorite. Thanks for lunch y’all, good as always!!
Best roast beef sub ever!
It would be very hard for anyone to not find something they love on the menu. Julios has the best of everything.... food, prices, and service!
