The Fast-Food Equivalent of a Dilapidated Gas Station Restroom. Let me start off by saying that I have never had high expectations for a Sonic Drive-In. It’s fast food. It’s grease and sugar in a bag. It’s the kind of place you hit up when you’re too lazy to make a sandwich or when you’ve already committed to making poor life choices. But even with the absolute rock-bottom expectations I had, this Sonic in Borger, Texas, somehow managed to limbo its way even lower. This place is a disaster.

First off, the place looks like it survived a Category 5 tornado—and then nobody bothered to clean up afterward. Half the ordering stalls are broken. No signs, no “Out of Order” stickers, just dead screens like something out of a dystopian sci-fi flick. I pull up to one of the few working stalls, hit the button… silence. I wait, I hit it again… nothing. No “We’ll be right with you,” no “Our system is down,” just radio silence. Meanwhile, I can see the guy at the drive-thru window standing there, probably texting his girlfriend about how much he hates his job.

At this point, I’m in too deep. I should have just driven away, but no—I’m a glutton for punishment and, dammit, I wanted a Route 44 Sweet Tea and some Cheese Peppers. So I pull up to the drive-thru instead. And guess what? Same thing. No answer. Just me, sitting there, looking like an idiot, wondering if I’d accidentally pulled into some abandoned relic of a Sonic from 1998.

Finally, after what felt like a court-mandated waiting period, some kid mumbles, “Hold on a minute.” No greeting, no energy, no sense of urgency. Just pure, soul-crushing indifference. Like I had personally inconvenienced him by showing up to the place where he works.

I place my order, drive up, and this dude at the window? Rude as hell. No eye contact, no “Hey, how’s it going?”—just grunts and sighs like he’s a medieval peasant being forced to hand-feed a king. And then—the pièce de résistance—he takes my card and swipes it so hard it cracks. CRACKS. This is a plastic debit card, not a stale breadstick. How hard do you have to be swiping to physically damage it? And of course, no apology. Just hands it back like, “Meh, not my problem.”

So let’s summarize:
✔ Broken stalls – Check
✔ Nonexistent service – Check
✔ Hostile employees – Check
✔ Card-breaking window gremlins – Big ol’ check

This place needs a total overhaul. The building needs a bulldozer, the staff needs a lesson in basic human decency, and corporate needs to step in before this place becomes a post-apocalyptic wasteland. If this Sonic were a movie, it’d have a zero percent on Rotten Tomatoes and still be too generous of a rating. Never again.

I order on the app and the messed my whole order up I put no egg on one off my sandwich and they even put the sticker and said no egg but it had egg on it and my breakfast burrito was suppose to be sausage and egg it was only egg and rest of my food was cold I spent 25 dollars and it was all wrong it wasn't worth it at all had to throw it all away couldn't go back because I was at work and bought stuff for my employees to eat and they didn't get to i probably won't be back

Food was good but not at all what I ordered I got fried poppers and I ordered fried pickles not sure how that makes sense they are not the same and the two people running the window and speaker was kinda rude and had no friendlyness about them they look young the girl rolled her eyes when ask a simple question and the guy just look confused I usely love there drinks and the one I got just wasn't that great they seemed like they didn't want to work or be there I do work for a fastfood service myself so I know mistakes happen but getting an order that you didn't order kinda sucks

Below average Sonic. Hamburger was below average. Large coke was so filled with ice, there was likely less than 10oz of coke in it. Nobody wants to pay extra for large and get nothing extra. Not this franchise fault, but advertising 1/2 price shakes after 7 and then telling customers thats only available for orders on the APP. Its BS! Come on sonic, not all your customers want to download your app and perhaps those customers are or were very loyal! Just because your tech department wants to increase application orders doesn't mean its right to punish people who don't use application or just want to pay cash. I bought my milkshakes next door at your competition. This is a very generous 4 stars. I own a business that caters to travelers and understand that any rating below 5 stars is not acceptable. Your staff is good, your product isn't. Yesterday I puechased icecream and it was melting and dripping when it was handed to me out the window. Come on man, you can do better than this.
Update: October 5: for a while, you sold from a $1.99 menu and included small shakes. I'm in Borger caring for my elderly parents who are ill. Sweet mom told me a sonic shake would taste good, are they still $1.99? Briefly checked the internet to confirm and took off to get the folks a shake. At drive through I ordered 2 shakes and a large tot. Price about $10.30. Grabbed the order at window and drove off but quickly realized there are no tots. Went back to get the tots, was met by an army of rude so, I asked for a refund. Was at first told no but later told to return to my car for my the money.
Dear sonic, your system sucks!!!!!
Old people see your ads but they don't use apps. They like your stuff but expect all prices to be the same, even those prices ordered and paid for the old fashioned way, cash.
Can't wait for your Braum's neighbor to reopen. You've lost a good customer.

Meat on my burger was cold like it just came out of the freezer, onion rings were sweet like it had sugar in the batter. Last time I'll ever order. Had to bring the burgers home and heat me on microwave
