So picture this: we walk in, party of 6, ready to grub. There’s literally two other tables with folks seated. It’s a seat yourself spot, so we post up. Took about 7 minutes for someone to even wander over. No “Hi y’all, welcome,” no smile, no “thanks for being here.” Sis just hit us with a flat, “What y’all drinking?”

Cool. We all order water, my daughter asks for a lemonade. Had to ask for menus because apparently, they thought we just came to hydrate and stare at each other.

While looking at the menu, we overhear her at another table saying food’s gonna be 20–25 minutes. Reminder: this place was emptier than my gas tank when payday’s still 3 days away. But okay, maybe the chef’s back there hand-raising the chickens and harvesting the lettuce.

Ten minutes go by, crickets. No check-in, nothing. So we left a couple bucks on the table for the lemonade and started heading out. Suddenly, here she come sprinting out like “Oh, y’all good?” Ma’am. Please.

Hospitality 101 was not in her syllabus. On Deck? More like Off Beat!

Food was delicious. Their lunch specials draw a big crowd, but they need more servers. Our server was nice, but very busy.

James was our waiter and he was beyond great!! Always there when we needed something and very personable. We’ve been eating at On Deck for over 20 years and have never been disappointed. Ryan has done a fabulous job with this restaurant!

The service we got was friendly, but it was scarce. They need more employees. The place was dead, but the crawfish was amazing!

Unless you want crawfish, I would recommend avoiding. We waited an hour for our actual meal which never came- we ordered a shrimp poboy and salmon dinner. We got an appetizer of fried pickles, those did come about 15mins after we ordered, but that was it. Service was not great- no one ever updated us on why it was taking so long or if there was an issue with our order. Numerous piles of crawfish came out to other tables during the hour we waited, so they didn't have any issue with those orders. We also had to literally stand up to flag down our waitress to pay for the pickles before we left, and even then, it took another waitress getting ours attention. For 2 adults just wanting to order off the menu, this is not the place to go.

I wanted to show my friend this place bc she has never been so the 1st time I took her our waitress was CAT and she was amazing she showed my friend a good time here and this time our server was Lauren and it was a horrible experience. It took at least 30 minutes just to get our drinks. We were on our lunch break so we only had a limited time to eat so we had to get our main course to go because we didn’t have enough time to eat.

Hunter is the ONLY reason to go here. The other 2 waitresses are HORRIBLE. The food is ok, but it’s like they don’t even know I’m here. Just horrible service.

If I could give 0 stars, I would.
We waited over 20 minutes for our food to find out that our waitress forgot to put our order in, so we waited another 25 minutes.
Our food (chicken fried steak and catfish), tasted like flour and nothing else. We tried to explain to the owner about our experience (first timers), and he kept saying "uhh-huh" and walked off mid conversation and never came back out.

We then talked to our server about our experience and that the owner walked off and she said, "he always walks off when he's confronted".

We decided to try out this place. I’ve heard others suggest it but in all of the years of operation I’ve never been. Tonight it’s one and done.

First and foremost they are under staffed for the amount of large parties they have going on. That being said, it took forever for service. I was “safe” to order fried catfish. How hard can it be, right???

Once we finally got our food it was piping hot, but that was really all that I can say about it. The fries were battered with some sort of batter and they were soggy. The fish had non traditional batter that was more flour than cornmeal and it was not seasoned enough at all. It was very bland. The coleslaw was very vinegary with only a few mustard seeds in it.

The cleanliness of the entire place was questionable. Not really what I had expected at all. I’ve learned my lesson and I definitely know to go across town to one of the other places that we normally go to next time we want catfish.

1st visit after hearing good things. Unfortunately, not impressed. Since it was 1st visit, I tried the catfish. It did come with 2 abundant servings of fish, but seasonings were lackadaisical at best. Sides include fries, albeit mine were soggy and were in much less abundance & cole slaw. Warning…cole slaw is heavy vinegar based. Also, a small salad appetizer came with the meal. I did notice that the catfish batter is uncommon as well, it being more flour based rather than cornmeal. Not great at all. If I return, I wont order the catfish, although the price is okay for the entree at $12. Meal could be so much better.
