Place wasn't what i expected, it's ok. Food is also ok, nothing wow. It took several minutes before I was even given a menu. Then I get my food and no utensils. The waitress talks to you like she is in a hurry to do other things. I understand food service since I worked in the industry for several yrs when I was young, so to me they could do better. Overall they get 3 stars which here in Brownsville is pretty much average for restaurants here. I would come back and hopefully get attended faster next time. Score would still stay the same due to the quality of the food. Enjoy!

Their breakfast is reasonably priced and tastes homemade. Their flour tortillas remind me of the tortillas my mom used to make from scratch. The salsa is also very tasty. Not too spicy. Everyone I've taken to El Charrito has enjoyed their meal.

This is a small restaurant that feels like home. The food is full of home goodness favor. I miss my mom and grandma cooking who are no longer with me. I felt like they made this food for me with the extra love. The server was extra nice and let us sample side dishes that were delicious. I don't live in south texas anymore but this place makes you want to drive down just to eat this food. The price was more then reasonable as well.

The sweet tea was powder mix with faucet water. Tasted nasty. Carne quisada was ok but didn't have much flavor. Refried beans were watered down and seemed more just a sauce. Rice was ok too. Would I come back? Probably not.

My partner and I went to eat on a Friday, the waitress was very friendly, the bad thing was that it took more than half an hour to serve us the food and we arrived at 11:30. We ordered the seafood combo, the plate came incomplete, the chips were missing. and when we tried the fish it was too oily and we tried the shrimp and they were too hard and had an ugly taste as if spoiled. The very kind waitress offered me something else to eat but our lunch hour was over. I went to pay and told her I think the man is the owner and the only thing he did was look at the kitchen and anyway he charged me for the 2 dishes. In order not to be rude, I didn't say anything but the decision seemed very bad to me, but well, I think he looks worse than us and the only thing I stressed to him was to be careful with the food and hopefully no one got sick
