Gio’s is a Brownsville institution. It has been here for over 40 years and has been run by the same family since the beginning. Don’t go here expecting a fancy Italian restaurant. This is an old-school, cozy Italian joint. They treat everybody like family. The food is fantastic. The prices are moderate and fair considering the quality of the food. I love their thin crust style of pizza. Also, their bread, salad and calzones are amazing as well. If you love local spots, you will love this place. Just remember it’s an family run business. it’s not a chain style commercial type of environment with a generic atmosphere. So that means it’s a great spot in my kind of place. If you are new to Brownsville, just passing through it or have lived here your whole life you will really enjoy Gio’s!

The place was definitely an experience, it has a home cooked environment, the food was excellent and tasty, however a bit pricey. I would definitely recommend for the experience! Great service by the way!

I completely agree with sentiments said below. This place is the worst italian food I've had in a lonnnngggg time.....unGodly expensive for what you get. Even Carino's would've been better. Don't bother ever coming here, you'll hate it. The sauce is horrible, the prices are them ripping you off completely!

Started visiting Gio's when I was in middle school. Was a family weekly stop until we all moved away. Headed back to the valley in a couple of weeks and Gio's is on the list of places to eat.

I know this place brings good memories for many, but it seems the better days have passed by. I ordered the veal parmesan and a lasagna. The food didn’t look fresh, and the tomato sauce had a weird taste. Also the prices were on the high end considering the quality of the food served. The server did his best to make us comfortable, but I probably won’t visit again.

Service was great! Small family owned restaurant that makes you feel like you're at home. All handmade cuisine.

I just left there and u wuz not satisfied..shrimp scampi wuz oily pasta wuz not fresh no taste wut so ever.. pizza wuz alright and the prices are too much for the tasteless pasta and soup.. first and last time i will go there... i recommend correli's in harlingen stephanos and the italian place at the island....

Food was less than stellar. Pizza was really great though. Pasta was oily. Soup seemed old, just warmed up. There was hardly anything from the menu available. This is more of a hangout for an older crowd who enjoy the atmosphere and nostalgia. This isn't the same when I went in 2018. This is a good restaurant, just needs a little update. Needless to say, I won't be returning. I would have spent less on better quality food down the street
