Absolutely obsessed with the food and drinks (specifically Chilaquiles Divorciados , the Taro Frappe and the Cafe de Olla). Angie was my server and was so good making sure to constantly check on me making sure I had everything I needed even though it was busy and had the best attitude ever! (While some people were just standing around on their phones). Over all 10/10 would recommend and definitely will be coming back to try the rest of the menu and asking for Angie as my server!

The Barbacoa chilaquiles was not all that great due that the Barbacoa was not of quality all meat. Had fat in it. Other than then it was tasty

Y’all if you have social anxiety do NOT come here, I came in my pjs because they said they had curbside online when I paid, and then was made to walk across a full dining room to get my order where I showed them my order. Which was obviously a personal order not DoorDash or Uber eats, the person working there refused to even acknowledge me or greet me and proceeded to look at me like I was an alien and put 5 staples in my bag for my own food 😭. I could have excuse any of this is the food was good but they somehow managed to undercook my pancakes and the potato and chorizo taco was soggy from how much oil was on it. If you’re looking for an aesthetic place to take pictures at then go, but if you’re looking for good food or service this is not that.

Lets get the bad out of the way first. The noise. This was our first time eating inside a restaurant in about 6 months. I now remember why I prefer to stay home and Door Dash. Why are people so damn loud in restaurants?! It's either people talking to loud or the restaurant is blaring loud music like it's a dance club. So, yeah.... instead of talking to my table mates I just doom scroll on my phone. The next part is maybe my own fault, but I looked at photos of the menu on Google before i decided I want to eat here. Both my husband and I picked out dishes we would want to order and then got to the restaurant and saw those two exact dishes were no longer on the menu. The Monte Cristo and Crab cake Benedict. Major bummer, but we choose other dishes that ended up being really good anyway. I guess I did not click on the actual website and was looking at submitted photos from Google users. Other than that the place was completely full and we only had a 15 min wait for a table and our waitress was nice and attentive. Food was good (chicken and waffles and the fried ribeye). Bathrooms were clean and they have normal doors on their stalls for full privacy.

Food was just ok. The steak and eggs 🍳 were not all that. The steak was small and thin. Chilaquelas were not good at all. No flavor at all. I had to put salt which is rare. I wouldn’t go there again. My server was great though I had heard good things about it but was sadly disappointed ☹️

I went Tuesday afternoon with my sisters to grab a quick lunch I had ordered a vanilla chai latte and it tasted watered down and no flavor I asked my server if she tell them to remake my latte and she comes back with the drink and tells me that the bartender didn’t want to remake it at all. I still had to pay for it and mind you I’m a server and bartender at a restaurant as well and when a customer asked for you to remake something, you’re supposed to be able to remake and fix it, the bartender didn’t want to because it was around closing time, I even ordered some small sides and the tortilla I got was burned and too crispy. The server we had was good and nice to us but that bartender I will say, needs an attitude adjustment and learn more work ethic on how to be a better bartender .

Brownsville is my hometown, and I only get to visit about once a year. When I’m in town, we normally stick to the same breakfast spots I grew up with — all Mexican, all nostalgic.

But on this trip we woke up later than usual, figured our regular spot had stopped serving breakfast, and decided to look for brunch. I’ll be honest… I was skeptical when I saw The Rooster was in a shopping center.

BUT I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED!

The space is beautiful, the drinks were phenomenal, and the food was delicious — elevated yet still familiar. It felt like something new without losing the comfort of home.

Highly recommend. I’ll definitely be back on my next visit!

Terrible !!! we literally had to get up and walk out due to lack of service by wait staff, didn't even bother showing up to table after and long and patient wait. If you are visiting from out of town, please skip this restaurant. (This isn't Brownsville locals approved)

Nice spot, the food was ok. I ordered chicken and waffles. Wasn't expecting a tenderloin. It was decent. The mocha latte was one of the best I've ever had thought. I will def be back for that.

Went for the first time on Friday and was honestly quite disappointed. I had the Poblano Chicken with veggies and mashed potatoes. The veggies didn’t taste like anything special and reminded all of us of bagged frozen veggies. The poblano sauce honestly didn’t taste like poblano peppers either. It was strange. The chicken breast was cooked well though.
The soda was very flat and nothing was done after it was mentioned. Our table just kept getting flat soda.
They were also taking what seemed to be promotional photos for some dishes so staff seemed distracted by that as well. It was an overall not great experience.
