Vermillion Restaurant and Watering Hole

As someone who travels across the country often for work, I almost always find myself eating solo at the bar. That's what's I had in mind tonight, returning here after having been here once before when passing through and enjoyed. I sit at the bar, order a beverage, get ID'd, and am then told that I was being refused service because my ID was Louisiana and not TX, and that they "didn't have the book to confirm" that my ID was real. At least 3 different people looked at it and still couldn't figure it out. Idk what kinda place this is but apparently it's no Louisiana gringos allowed.

It's always a pleasure dining at the Vermillion. The food is top notch, as usual. You can order anything on the menu, and the result is always 10/10. Service is usually speedy but can take awhile during peak hours. I can always count on a great atmosphere when coming to this Brownsville gem!

The food and atmosphere were great. We also had an amazing server who took our order right away. I ordered the Pancho Villa plate which came with two enchiladas, two beef tacos and a side of rice and beans and it came out piping hot and was delicious. This spot is a favorite whenever I go down to Brownsville for business trips. Highly recommend this place.

Ordered fajita nachos $16.29 the beef was crumbs They added 5.99 for Guacamole (0n nachos) 3) was Diet Coke tip and you got $37.00 nachos that were cheese and beans. Pitiful.

Visit every time I visit brownsville and the last time. Ordered the full deluxe beef nachos and half order of the chicken nachos and to my surprise the orders were smaller, no flavor to the food and very greasy and the price was higher which I was not surprised but the quality should have been good. My party ended up with indigestion after all the grease. Informed the waitress and she stated she would not charge us for the small order but we received the bill and told us she could not adjust the bill that we would have to speak to the manager. At that point we were ready to leave since staff was busy with a big party. I even Informed the cashier and she only stated "oh". Only good experience was a young man that took our drink order, very friendly and great customer service compared to our waitress.

I was surprised this was a casual dining restaurant serving Tex-Mex food by the name of the restaurant. The tortilla chips tasted like they were fresh ground from dried corn. Yum! And the chili powder used in the enchiladas was a darker, richer, and smokier flavor than most Mexican restaurants use in the Rio Grande Valley. Delicious!
