Perhaps one of the best kept secrets in Bryan! Martin’s Place has been in business over 100 years. It’s a bit spooky driving up because it’s not obviously a restaurant. Entering doesn’t put your mind at ease since the last time the interior was updated was in the 1970s, and you may not see anyone behind the counter. In short it’s a hole in the wall in all the best ways, and the food is fantastic!

Came here with high hopes because my friend swore this was the best barbecue he’s ever had in his life. That being said, he hasn’t been in Bryan for 10 years. The brisket was possibly the worst I’ve ever had, the ribs were almost the worst I’ve ever had. Both overcooked, tough, and cool to the touch. The fries were decent frozen curly fries, the okra was actually great and the sausage was mids. The sausage and the sides saved this place from getting 1star. The ambience was everything you want in a hole in the wall hidden gem. It was smoky from the smoker inside and the decor was as if I stepped into a Time Machine to the 60’s or 70’s. Loved the atmosphere and the staff.

This place is absolutely awesome! This is THE hidden gym of Bryan. Hole in the wall, friendly service, good people, and the bbq is solid! Comparable prices to Rudy’s and the other big chains, give em a shot!

The only thing this place has going for it seems to its history. It’s in extreme disrepair, both inside and out. The sausage has no flavor, the German potatoes tasted awful, and the barbecue sauce is thin as water and tastes like water too. If you’re in the neighborhood, stop and read the historical marker but skip the food!

Sliced pork and sausage plate. Sausage very bland, no flavor. Sliced pork ok but BBQ sauce no flavor.
Building and grounds need major attention and cleaning.
By far the best BBQ I have had! Excellent everything.

Outstanding, dependable, great flavor, lotta sides
Ordered a 2 meat plate to try the brisket and sausage, with a side of potato salad and green beans. The sides were the star of the meal. Good potato salad and green beans, but the meat was mediocre. Brisket was dry and bland, and not much smokiness. Sausage tasted generic but decent. It didn't compare to the famous Texas bbq joints sausage. Service was slow for lunch, and the place needs updated.

Martins BBQ has been around since I was a child and I am 67 now. It had the best BBQ then and still does. My daughter and I went last weekend and it was the best as always. Love it and we will be going back, for sure. I recommend highly.
