These boudin egg rolls 😋 are fried just right and very tasty. #Burp 😋 And I'm not a drinker but when I do sip; I prefer Whiskey sour and I think i have a new favorite bartender

In two weeks of eating at a different restaurant every day in BCS, this was my favorite. Gotta start with the building - these guys are COMMITTED! (I like that the old location across the street looks like an actual shipwreck.) Inside, everything fits the theme and is appealing. They don't just offer Cajun cuisine - they have Cajun waiters! (At least, ours was.) The Jalapeno Poppers were HUGE - see photo of me holding one; it's nearly grenade-size. I had the Crawfish Combo, and thoroughly enjoyed both the etouffee and the fried crawfish tails.

So we came in a few weeks ago and had a bad experience with the bartender, he was rude and used profanity at me. The manager Tony called me and apologized for the bartenders behavior. This restaurant has always been one of my favorite and thanks to the amazing management team and other staff I will continue to come back.

Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere! This is one of my favorite restaurants in BCS! There is nothing like it here. The owners are local and support local! We love Shipwreck!

My wife and I went last night, and this was only our second time eating at Shipwreck (first time at the new location). The Fish Grand Isle was amazing! My only "complaint" was that since my wife is not a seafood person, there weren't really a ton of non seafood items on the menu. But we managed. I do want to give a shout-out to our waitress, MiMi. She was awesome! She was friendly and attentive. I wish every waiter/waitress was as good as her.

Shipwrecked review

If you like people commenting on how much you’re eating and drinking, this is the place for you!!!

We started off strong with our meal order — I ordered a half order of gumbo and half order of etoufee. Our waitress said “that won’t be too much - if I can eat it, then you DEFINITELY can!”. Kind of offensive, but we continue on. Innocent mistake.

Our appetizer comes out: boudin - YUM! We asked for plates - never got them. But again, we soldiered on. Boudin was very dry. Not a lot of flavor. Disappointing, but we are looking forward to our entrees.

My man ordered the Walk the Plank Burger - if you’ve ever had a Salisbury steak TV dinner, you will LOVE this dish. Because it was just one of those slapped on a bun. Thank goodness it came with sauce to add some sort of flavor to the dish. And as for the blackened crawfish tails? it came with FOUR WHOLE CRAWFISH TAILS. Awesome!!!

Now. The gumbo. Talk about flavorless dish water. I added some tobasco and salt, two things I liked, and ate several bites before abandoning it. The shrimp were the most flavorful part, but they were mush. The Etoufee was better, but still not great. I counted three crawfish in the entire dish. It had a very strong tomato taste.

All the while, we were having the strangest interactions with our waitress asking us to rate the restaurant and not taking “no thank you” for an answer.

We didn’t say anything to our waitress and chalked it up as a loss. It happens when trying new places. Just wasn’t for us, we will survive.

But then when the waitress asked if we wanted boxes and we declined, her demeanor completely shifted. She practically slammed our plates together, cleared the table, and stomped off. She didn’t say a word to us for the rest of the interaction, silently going through the motions.

We will never be back. As for our rating, it’s a zero from us. Most disappointing $70 we’ve spent in a while.

Hello Chef

October 2024.

Hostess and seating ok. I don’t like high chair and table seating—why ask with plenty of four-tops available. It was lunch, not packed.

Food: meh. Fried shrimp and oysters were overcooked, catfish was ok. Nothing to write home about or crave. (Chicken Express has better fried catfish.)

Shipwreck sauce, okay.
Tartar sauce, delicious.
Cocktail sauce, not bad. But, the ketchup on table contains HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup) — for having a “house label” on it, SG could have made a better choice. So, I’m guessing the CS also has HFCS.

Hush puppies were tasty. Coleslaw was tasty (vinegar was prominent, but worked for me).

Server was not the person who brought food out, so the order was not checked for accuracy. They left a requested sauce off. And
. Why stick fork/utensil in a greasy basket of food, with a sauce flipped over making everything messy?? Nope-Nope-Nope.

There were plenty of napkins on table, THANK GOODNESS.

The manager was accommodating, so kudos to him.

Overall experience, one thumb in the middle for now. No plans to return for now.

Last note: the lack of good/efficient lighting in parking lot is a concern for night dining, unless you park facing VM. Coming from a big city, it screams UNSAFE.

Wheelchair accessibility: Establishment appears to be WC friendly.
