The setting was nice but everything else fell way short. We made reservations for 830pm based on good reviews and the menu variety depicted on their Google listing. They never mentioned when we called they only had a buffet available that day and we traveled 40 minutes to get there then waited an hour until our reservation time. They seated us, asked us for our drink orders then told us it was buffet only. We were already there and it was late so we went with it. I got a coke and she brought it warm in a can with a glass of ice...not what I expected from a regular, nicer restaurant. The food was BBQ with chicken, brisket and sausage and then they had baked beans, cream of corn, potato salad, cornbread and peach cobbler for dessert. The food was ok. Nothing special but not bad either. We finished eating and my wife went to pay. It took her 10 minutes to pay because she was obviously arguing about something. Turns out the basic buffet cost us $150 for 4 people with one coke and 3 waters. The waters were supposed to have lemon in them but they put limes instead. The restaurant is supposed to be about the setting and view and since we were there at sunset you'd think it would be nice. Nope! They had all the blinds halfway down so you couldn't see anything. Nobody ever came back to check on drinks etc. When they seated us there were 4 tables cleaned and unoccupied. They let us sit for over an hour waiting on a table despite also being on the wait list for an earlier table. However, that's not the worst. While waiting for our table we decided to get a few beers and some wine. The lady serving was the only one behind the counter so she was serving drinks, taking cash and not washing her hands. No big deal just serving drinks, right? Well, that's until you see her picking up limes and handing them to the people in front of us as if they were going to put them into their pockets for later use. She didn't pour their drinks into a glass then add the limes, she literally just picked them up with her hand and handed them over. One of the beers we got was a Blue Moon and she did the same thing with the orange. The setting outside and grounds seemed nice but the management and total lack of detail and service were horrible. We won't go back. By the way, we had just paid $89 with tax for all four of us for lunch at Salt Lick BBQ for lunch earlier that day.

The Pros: The RV sites are well-spaced and wooded with full hookups. The restaurant was clean (except for the windows that look out over the lake,), and the food was excellent. The limited staff was friendly. The trails are beautiful and full of wildlife. The Cons: The staff was limited (they are hiring). They have two stores, one is a gift shop in the main office and the other is down by the lake and it’s supposed to be a “bait shop”. There were no bait at either store. If you want bait, you have to go into town. You have to have a reservation for almost everything. List: The restaurant. The Eagle eye observatory. Guided hikes and informational sessions. It was truly a disappointment.

I did not realize this place was really for campers staying there. I was not able to pull up a menu before I went and found out it was a buffet. No other choices. I was disappointed but I did not realize this place was not really for a dining out experience.

It was interesting. We went on valentines and everyone had to make reservations, but it still seemed like the staff was very unprepared for the number of people. Also we showed up a little early hoping to enjoy a drink at the bar while we waited, but the bar was in another building which also had a small private event going on. It was an awkward experience and the drinks were not good. Once we got to dinner the sever was nice but the wait times for food was very long. The main course was good, but not great. All in all, I think this is probably a decent restaurant if you're staying on property. It was definitely not the destination Valentines Day experience we were hoping for.

Opentable Diner

The kitchen was unprepared to serve multiple parties. It was extended wait times to receive appetizers in main entrees. Highly disappointed with the service provided, but the manager did try to accommodate us at the end.

Chef Matilde and waitress Melissa were wonderful. For dessert, we had the fried Oreos which were out of this world! The tasted light and fluffy and reminded me of what Oreo beignets would taste like. We're coming back just for this dessert!! Beautiful views as well.

Great hill country property, great staff, well maintained. Beautiful and peaceful location on Lake Buchanan.

House Of Rotterman

Very nice RV sites with restaurant, cabins, gathering area, gift shop, bar/coffee, and lots of wonderful hiking!

Really beautiful view over the lake. Great food at brunch. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Signs to find the restaurant could be better in the park for first time visitors. We would go again.

We went to this restaurant mainly for the view. The pics from reviews looked good but hard to know how old they were. We ordered the veggie pizza as an appetizer. It had lots of fresh veggies and the flavor was very good. The crust was a slightly thick soft crust. We were pleasantly surprised. Our group had the Silver Creek burger, Red Snapper Fish sandwich and Beef Hoagie. The burger was on a Everything Bagel. Very juicy and messy. The bagel was a little dense for a burger but overall was good. The fish sandwich was good. The lemon mayo had a slight hint of lemon and maybe a little too much mayo but overall was a good sandwich. The Beef Hoagie was nothing special and a little greasy. We ordered the peppermint cheesecake. It did not look like we would have expected. Deep forest green on a red velvet cake with some white cream cheese in the middle. I don't know if I would call it cheesecake and the color was hard to stomach (see pic). For the area it was a decent meal. Again we went for the view.

We went to the restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner. It was really delicious and the portions were really generous. I couldnt eat any more after my entree arrived. The food was great and the view and atmosphere was really pleasant and nice. It was expensive, but for the amount of food we got it was worth it. (5 course Thanksgiving meal plus drinks)I thought the service was OK. I was waiting in line to get taken to my table for a little while but the hostess was talking to a guest so we were a bit delayed in getting seated. We were not given the window seat we were promised which was dissappointing and our table was the only one without any napkins.

Kid-friendliness: There was a banquet room down the hall that was playing movies for kids so they wouldnt get bored after dinner. I thought that was really cool. The movies played on a giant projector.

Parking: There was plenty of parking. When we went it was raining, but fortunately it was not difficult to find a nearby spot to park.

The staff was friendly and very informative about the area. Get the cheese crusted tacos. With that combo and the sauce that comes with it you won't be disappointed. The view out the windows isn't bad either. Only bad thing was we didn't see any eagles. But the food more than made up for it.

I really enjoyed the food here. The shrimp tacos and the impossible burger were both very good. The breakfast is outstanding. I had the migas one morning and the canyon breakfast another morning and both were delicious, especially the blue corn and blueberry pancakes. The service can be slow on a weekday but the morning server did a great job making our experience as good as possible.
