We had a great time at Wedding Oak Winery! The rosé we bought was absolutely delicious. The winery has such great vibes and is a perfect place to hang out in Burnet. The Hill Country scenery is beautiful and relaxing. Highly recommend stopping by and supporting this wonderful small business!

1/5 One of the Worst and Most Overpriced Experiences I’ve Ever Had

I normally don’t write long reviews, but this experience was so bad and so expensive that people need to know what they’re actually getting into.

I originally booked two tickets, but the only seats available were separated. When we arrived at the station the day of, two seats opened up together at one of the group tables, so we were reassigned to those. Seemed like good luck at first. It wasn’t.

A Hostile, Awkward Train Ride

Once on the train, we discovered people already sitting in our seats. They were part of a group of six who had split themselves into “boys” and “girls” tables and apparently believed they were entitled to all eight seats. When staff told them we were the rightful ticket holders, the group got visibly irritated and made the entire situation uncomfortable from the start.

At one point, the man at the other table kept pressuring staff to get us to move to different seats so their group could stay together. We politely declined — we had window seats and wanted to keep them. After that, he loudly referred to us as assholes to his group. I heard it. It was humiliating, uncomfortable, and set the tone for the entire ride.

For two hours, we sat across from an angry group of strangers, trapped in a tense, hostile atmosphere. The staff’s handling of the situation only made it worse.

The Wine Experience? Absolutely Terrible

For $105 per person (so $210 for two), here’s what we got:
- 5 tiny tastings — literally one ounce each
- Cheap, low-quality wine that tasted terrible
- No complimentary food
- No vibe, no music, no ambiance
- A train car that smelled like a high school cafeteria

They market it online as this fun, lively, boozy train experience but there’s no music, no lights, nothing. Just a dull, awkward, overpriced ride with bad wine.

Burnet Stop = Nothing to Do

The itinerary said two hours to explore Burnet and visit the winery. Reality? The town was empty, nothing was open, and after how uncomfortable the train ride was (and how bad the wine tasted), we didn’t even bother going into the winery.

We were so disappointed we ended up eating at a Whataburger next door and calling an Uber back. Yes - we skipped the return train entirely because:
- No drinks were being served on the way back
- Food was not included
- The atmosphere was miserable
- We did NOT want to deal with that group again

Final Verdict

This was one of the worst experiences of my life — and at over $200, also one of the most overpriced.

It looks amazing on TikTok and Instagram. They make it seem fun, lively, aesthetic. Don’t fall for it like we did.

There’s no vibe. No service. No atmosphere. Terrible wine. Terrible seating system. Zero entertainment. And the town you stop in is a ghost town.

Do NOT recommend. Will not ever return. Save your money and skip this entirely. Period.

Very personable wine stewards. We enjoyed their dryer wines, the history of the building and especially the view from the rooftop patio.

The most wonderful and generous people!! We had such a good time and the wine was amazing. I wish we lived close by!!

We loved coming here on the wine train, but disappointed there was no live music anymore. I have to warn you the sewage smell in the building was overwhelming and will prevent us from coming back until it's fixed. The owner is great to deal with so I hope he gets on that and brings back the music. 2 stars for the cute bulldog and the foods much better than the former box lunches.

Took the train from cedar park ! Fun

We’ve been club members for over 2 years and very seldom stop by for our free membership glasses of wine. When we did recently, we were told they no longer give a glass of wine but instead do tastings. We awkwardly stood at the bar for a tasting that we didn’t want. We know the wines! Sadly, we’ll be dropping our club membership. What a way to treat those that have continually supported you and had maybe 2 glasses of wine per month. You haven’t lost money on us.

The wines are great, but there aren’t any food options available. The space is very nice, and the staff are polite and friendly.

Very friendly staff and great wine!

Atmosphere is good and the people are very nice. Wide variety of wines.

Wonderful selection of reds and whites. The Texatalia was my favorite. Mr. Bruce went above and beyond with service and product knowledge. Because of him, I will be returning next time I'm in that part of Texas. Give that man a raise.

Love this place. The wine club can’t be beat. I get my free glass of wine just about every day I’m in town. And I can bring up to three guests for a free glass. DAILY! The folks are nice and the location is wonderful. Overlooking the courthouse square and some hill country views. And the wine is great too!

The beautiful scenery and charming atmosphere of the Wedding Oak Winery transported me back in time to my own wedding day 25 years ago. The smell of the oak barrels and the taste of the delicious wine brought back fond memories and emotions from that special day. It was truly a nostalgic and unforgettable experience.

Way overpriced and slow service. The wines are fine, but definitely not worth $18 a glass. The servers were very nice but not great at multitasking. A lot of customers were just waiting around for a while before being served. It was frustrating because the winery knows the majority of their customers on certain days are coming from the Hill Country train and have a limited amount of time, but they still moved so slowly. It would be nice to see a little more energy...

$ 17 - $ 20 per glass - WAY WAY WAY OVERPRICED mediocre wines. They had no list of wines by the glass, and that should have been the clue. I would NEVER have paid $ 18 per glass. The bottles are $ 33, so one glass at $ 18 is ROBBERY. I tried 4 of their wines, and none were more than mediocre. They buy grapes from different places every year, so even if something were good, it would not be consistent.
