“Yelp Loved Us” was a sign that greeted me upon entrance and it’s true! This place is loved! The brisket is the best in town. It is lean and NO fat at all in the chopped beef I had today. I did the lunch special- meat, 3 sides, dessert and drink - for 13. Good value! Back Woods is county, cozy, and comfortable. It’s my favorite spot in canton!

Asked for moist brisket with fat and bark. All they had out was lean. Woman cutting huffed and plopped the knife down and gave me a disgusted look. She said she would see if she had any. After a few minutes, she came back with a plastic cup half full of white fat. She then proceeded to slice a piece of the lean. I repeated that I wanted moist brisket. She huffed again and said "this IS moist" I said I don't want that. More huffing and pulling faces. I said I would have a rib plate, please. More huffed and faces. Stomps to the back. I HAD HAD ENOUGH.As I was leaving, I hear "He's got his butt in a gear. I responded "No ma'am, you do." More faces and mocking as I closed the door.I have been in customer service for 30+ years. I have never been so disrespected.Cross the threshold of this place at your peril.

The atmosphere is very casual. "Mom and Pop" slice or chop your meat selection and fill your plate with sides. The veggies and salad are prepared home style. The only downside is the room temperature of the food. I was particularly concerned about the potato salad and cole slaw. One meat plates and drinks for 2 came to over $40. We most likely will not be back.

Very good chopped beef sandwich. The sauce is amazing. Fried okra is also good. My wife loved the ribs. Very friendly owners.

Best BBQ for as long as I can remember. Just get there occasionally. But when ever I'm in Canton Tx. I'll wait for them to open just to eat there.
