I recently visited Guadalajara Restaurant in Canyon Lake and unfortunately, my experience was quite underwhelming. The water had an unfiltered taste with a hint of old pipes, which was off-putting. The men’s restroom was somewhat clean but had a puddle of water in the middle—definitely not ideal. While they do have an automatic soap and towel dispenser, both looked outdated and could use a fresh coat of paint. I didn’t dare to check out the women’s restroom, so I can’t comment on its condition.
The carne guisada plate was merely okay; nothing that would leave a lasting impression. The beans were overly seasoned and had a distinctly canned taste, and the enchiladas were average at best. On a positive note, the chips and salsa were quite good, but sadly, they didn’t offer to refill them.
The restaurant’s decor is quite dated, and it’s clear that updates haven’t been made in a long time. The outdoor covered patio was a highlight, especially with the perfect September weather. However, the overall ambiance was lacking.
Service was also disappointing. The waitress seemed more interested in pushing the most expensive dishes rather than informing us about any daily specials. It felt like she was more focused on maximizing the bill rather than providing genuine customer care, despite her attempts at friendliness.
Given the overall experience, I’d rate Guadalajara Restaurant a 5 out of 10. It wasn’t terrible, but it certainly didn’t meet expectations. The glowing reviews might be misleading, or perhaps they don’t truly reflect what authentic Mexican food should be like.
Parking: It seems that parking is limited and the place is in bewtween a gas station and a little mall. Perhaps you can find parking next door, but I could be wrong since I was not paying much attention to parking. When I went there, only few people were there.

Needs a valid phone number to place pickup orders. Tried several times before and after opening hours of 5pm on a Friday and phone constantly goes to voicemail but then cuts off and unable to leave voicemail. Tried the same last Friday and had the exact same issue.

Went there on a Saturday morning for a late breakfast while visiting. Carla was so kind to us, and she made us some awesome food. The breakfast burger was great and juicy. My girlfriend loved the chicken salad wrap. Really enjoyed the experience.

I was beyond thrilled to find delish Cuban dishes in the heart of Canyon Lake. Fresh ingredients, friendly owner who makes her food from the heart and lots of Al fresco seating so you can bring your pup along! Carla is dedicated, and very passionate about food and customer service. Make sure you try her Cuban style pork tamales and the mocacchiino flan! Can’t wait to come back for brunch and try other wonderful dishes!

Great hole in the wall shack on the side of the road. Carla cooks all of her food fresh, and refuses to sacrifise her food's freshness. She makes a variety of different rices and soups fresh daily. Her burgers are to die for,and the Chicken Salad Sandwhich is top notch.
