The steak wasn’t bad. Not heavily seasoned. It was good to taste the meat rather than the seasonings. It was a rather thin cut. I prefer thicker but it still wasn’t bad. No sear on the steak was pretty close to a deal breaker. The potato is where they really lost me. It had the look and texture of a potato that had been cooked at least a day before, refrigerated or frozen then reheated. Wet appearing and feeling peel on the outside. The meat of the potato stuck to the peel on the inside. Not light and fluffy like a freshly baked potato. “But that’s the side dish.” No, in steak and potato dinner it’s accompanying dish. A salad is a side. Microwaving a potato to go with a $30 steak is lazy and whoever came up with this idea should be embarrassed. So, mediocre (at best) steak. Sorry potato. Wife’s steak sandwich meat was dry. Fried mushrooms were good. Service was pretty good. Atmosphere maybe a little stuffy but ok.ETA. Do yourself a favor and make the 7 mile trip up the road to Green Chili Willies. They know how to sear a steak, it’s thick enough to handle a sear, and the baked potato is fresh.

We've been really wanting to try this place since we moved to Canyon. While we did enjoy it, it wasn't particularly our most beloved new spot. The smoked old fashioned was great. I really loved the atmosphere, service was attentive without being overbearing, but the food was just ok. We started with the triple dip and chips. The queso seemed to be just white Velveeta with Rotel, salsa was something like pace, and guac was premade tasting as well. None of it was bad and we ate it all, but it wasn't much different than what I buy from Sam's club for snacks. We then order the queso chicken, chicken fried steak, and chicken strips. The portions are hearty when it comes to the main dish, side portions a little lacking, except for the zucchini. The zucchini was one whole zucchini grilled in quarters. It was probably my favorite part of the meal. The chicken strips were huge and very tender and juicy, not overly cooked, but definitely under seasoned. The chicken fry was falling apart just using a fork, but the gravy was nothing extra special or flavorful. The queso chicken was tender and well cooked, but the queso again was nothing extraordinary. The grilled green chilis were a nice addition and grilled with a nice char that really brought out flavors. Even though it is a steakhouse, we sadly did not try any. I am sure they're great as that is their bread and butter.

The food was okay, but I could have done a better ribeye at home, I go to a steakhouse for a steak that is wow. Service was lackluster. The manager was quite impersonal at for 5pm on a friday there was no atmosphere.

This is a good little spot. The food is good and the service was good. I have a large family and the have family sized booths to sit in so that is always a win for us. Great job guys.
Kid-friendliness: They had a kids menu that had good options for the kids and the person we're large enough for my 11yo boy.

First time at this restaurant, will definitely return soon
This was such a great place! This was my second visit. I came for lunch the first time and now I was here for dinner. It was absolutely wonderful! They had live music on a Saturday night that I loved. And the service was the best! They were so kind and friendly! Wish more people knew about this place on the square in Canyon, Texas!

Good steakes here! Was really impressed with the tenderness and flavor of the steak. I ordered chicken fried steak and it was really good. The sides were not the best. Had chips and salsa, and mozzarella sticks for appetizers were very good too. Service was ok, overall a good place for steak!

Went to Canyon Steak House for dinner and was overall not impressed.Full disclosure we went in about 45 min before they closed. Our waitress was very friendly and got us drinks right away. After placing our order, we waited about 40 minutes for our food. I ordered a build your own burger with green chilis and a side of French fries. My boyfriend ordered a 16oz ribeye with a baked potato and side Caesar Salad. The salad took about 35 min to come out. Our waitress was apologetic. My burger was tasty and the fries were well seasoned. However, my boyfriend ordered his steak med rare and it was well, well done. There was not really any seasoning which only made the poor quality meat more apparent. Our waitress realized he had ordered med rare and offered to have a new one cooked. He declined because it was past time their kitchen had closed. In the end, they ended up comping the steak which was very kind. However, my boyfriend later got very ill and we believe it was from the meal eaten at Canyon Steak Company. The waitress was great, but unfortunately we will not be returning.
