It was a mistake coming here in the first place. My favorite handroll spot doesn’t open until 5pm, so we decided to check out Blue Maki before heading over. My husband and I both ordered the 3 for $22 deal just to try it out and see if we’d want more. Thankfully, we stopped there. The sushi rice was disappointing, and it was so hard to eat the handrolls with the plastic wrapper. Overall, it felt like a waste of a meal. I won’t be coming back.

Kevin if I could give 10 stars I would. Such a great dinner and drink experience. We got the Sunday, rainforest and dragon roll and to drink a lychee martini and the highball so absolutely yummy! Must try if in the area!!!

Same great quality and service as always from The Blue Fish. Server said this is their concept restaurant since the one at Frankford/Tollway closed. Hand rolls are interesting and very good. 3 for $22 plus you get a side salad. Restaurant was quiet at 7pm and got busy at 9pm on a Saturday night. Largest table size we saw was a 4-top so you'd need to call ahead if you have a large group that needs tables put together. Tight parking but that goes for this entire shopping center. We drive over from Ft. Worth because we love The Blue Fish so much. 🩵

Small place. Great service. Loved the bar seating. Chefs were very kind and even offered us his favorite handroll for free.

Handrolls:
- [ ] TNT: creamy and delicious.
- [ ] Hamachi jalapeño: hamachi was smooth. Basic, but tried and tested.
- [ ] Seared salmon belly: not too smoky at all. Welcome surprise. Salmon was slightly bitter
- [ ] Spider: meh
- [ ] Rainforest: meh
- [ ] Kanpachi*: very smooth. Highly recommend. Ikura's saltiness contributed to the balance
- [ ] Wagyu and uni: underwhelming. Couldn't really taste the wagyu. Would try salmon and uni instead

Side:
- [ ] Honey butter fries: beyond basic. Pretty good.

Cold plate:
- [ ] Madai sea breeze: do not be deterred by the scales! The pear lended masterfully to the fish. It actually camouflaged against the color of the madai

Nigiri:
- [ ] Salmon: lacked flavor
- [ ] Yellowtail: flavorful and tender.
- [ ] Madai: lacked flavor. Could taste the rice more than the fish.
- [ ] Toro*: so good. Made up for the salmon and madai

Tip:
- look into what they’re specials are. I think they have $5 hand rolls on Tuesday or Wednesday.

* highly recommend.

If you're looking for an unforgettable sushi experience, Blue Maki by The Blue Fish is a must-visit! The creativity and artistry of Chef Jackie shine through in every dish—from the beautifully balanced hand rolls to the inventive seasonal specials. Each bite is a testament to the chef’s passion and precision.

The hospitality here is just as impressive as the food. Connie and Kevin go above and beyond to make every guest feel welcome and cared for. Their warmth and attentiveness elevate the entire dining experience and make you feel like part of the Blue Maki family.

And let’s talk about the fish—incredibly fresh and of the highest quality. Whether you're enjoying salmon belly sashimi, a crudo sampler, or one of their signature rolls, you can taste the difference. The flavors are clean, vibrant, and expertly composed.

This place is a gem in Carrollton, and I can’t recommend it enough. Kudos to the entire team for creating such a special spot!

We went there with visitors from out of town. The servicer and the chefs greeted us immediately. Being that it was our first time there, they recommended some great options, from kids friendly options to a more open palette. Everything was so fresh. I’m still dreaming about the torched salmon belly. Salivating now when thinking about it. I highly recommend the place and will definitely be back.
