I went here with my best friend to Gen 8/23 and the cute manager got me this boba drink to try before putting it on the menu and I thought it was good, my friend says otherwise. But Gen is always a go to for good food. But the premium wagyu was something I can always order. Our Jo is the best and so fast and attentive without even asking. Like this Queen deserves a raise for immediately changing the grill and going above and beyond.

Had the worst experience here. I love Korean BBQ but if I had been to this place first I never would have Korean BBQ again. Horrible service. Spent $150 for hardly any food, we actually went out to another eatery after because we were all still so hungry. We’re told there is dessert waited half an hour for it only to be told they don’t have dessert. Then another 15 minutes for the check. GM brought the check and seemed ignorant to the chaos around him.
Just, not a good experience.

I’m honestly not sure how to write this review. Our first experience at this location was very confusing. We waited a bit at the front and then were seated at a dirty table and I asked if we could be moved to a clean table and were then told that they would have to wait for others to finish eating and it would take 25-35 minutes. I asked why it would take that long just to get a clean table and why couldn’t they just clean the table they were trying to seat us at. Then she said that would take 10 minutes. Again, super confused. Then she told us to go sit up at the front and then came over to put us on a waitlist. Like honestly, what is happening? I believe they are short staffed so I can sympathize but why were we seated and when would it be appropriate to ever seat someone at a dirty table without offering to clean it. It was just a very confusing start to a birthday dinner and I honestly felt like we were being punished for asking for a clean table, like that wasn’t a standard in health and safety.
Anyways, when we were seated the waitress was great and the food was good as well. She was the only redeeming aspect of our visit. There are many other Korean bbq places in this area and I personally will try all of them before I come back to this Gen. :(

I arrived with a group (12 in total) and although the table was empty and ready for us to be seated, we were forced to wait for over thirty minutes before we were allowed to be seated.
Apparently, your meal here is timed. I wouldn't have any problems with that, except for the service slows down greatly after you've had a few rounds of food. If you are expected to finish eating in a timely manner, having frequent refills and not having to wait for 40 minutes for a specific meat to arrive to the table (which still has to be cooked) would make the timing situation must easier. Also, getting refunds when you have ordered spicy foods is imperative; not everyone can continue eating it without something to drink. Also, after a few rounds of food, we had to turn the grill off ourselves because the grill plate needed to be changed out by staff and subsequently, the food was burning. Again, if we are being timed for it meal, I would appreciate having attentive service during the entire time we are there eating.
The manager looked very underwhelmed with even being present. I witnessed him making multiple annoyed/irritated expressions while he was holding the tablet up for people to make payments by credit card. He definitely did not give off a welcoming vibe and seemed to be mentally checked out.
The food was good, although I cooked it myself, so I suppose I played a large part in that.
Be sure to clarify upfront how you will be paying if you are part of a group. The manager told us that we could only split the check into 4 parts (so no individual payments, etc.) which was a bit more difficult since we had 12 in our group. Expect to have to pay each other back with cash, Venmo, etc. if you don't clarify upfront.

First time having Korean BBQ and I was very pleasantly surprised! All the meats were fresh and had wonderful flavor. The kimchi, radish, cucumber, and other table sides were the perfect addition. Wish we had a Korean BBQ house in Louisiana! Can’t wait to come back next time we are in town

Wow a couple years of greatness has really changed. We cone here all the time. But the last 4 times i leave saying tbis is the last visit. The service isbthe worst most apathetic I have ever seen outside a truck stop. They now require you to beg them to bring any sides that come with the meal. The servers disapear and good luck getting any refills. The prices are higher and everything is worse. I really feel bad because I remember why this was our families go to place. Inwould avoid this place at all costs as we will now do. In fact there is a place called Omi across the street that has really upped their Korean Bbq game.

I’ve been a loyal customer of Gen BBQ on old Denton rd for many years. But yesterday (August 13th Tuesday) would be my last day visiting here.
When I walked in the door, the host did not welcome me, she did not say anything unless spoken to. I told her one for dine in and she stayed silent for the whole time. She grabbed the menu and hand gestures me to scan the barcode. Yes, she didn’t even say “please scan the bar code” she just used her hand to point at the bar code.
Then she brought me to a table that had AC BLOWING on my entire body. I asked her and the server if it was possible for me to take me somewhere not that cold. The server said “it will be the same everywhere in this restaurant”.
I had no choice so I sat down, immediately there was water dripping from the ceiling, and I was 100% sure that was the water from the AC.
I had to change to one of the four seats that had no direct dripping from above.
The server was almost nonexistent, I explicitly stated I wanted a Sprite with NO ICE. There was ICE in my cup! I told the server there was water dripping from the top and he ignored me like it was not a big deal.
The drink menu that host girl brought was greasy and honestly very nasty!
I will not go back to this nasty establishment, and if any of you guys see my review and still decide to go, please avoid the table that is in front of the Drink bar (or next to the kitchen) because you will get attacked by the water from the AC!

The place never disappoints! The food always fresh and the meat quality is top notch. Service is friendly and fast our server kept checking on us and make sure our grill was always ready for the next round. I love the spicy pork and marinated beef and all the yummmy side dishes. Definitely one of my favorite spots for Korean bbq, and I’ll keep coming back!!!!!

DONT EVER WORK FOR THIS ESTABLISHMENT AS A WAITRESS!!! YOU WILL GO HOME AT 3 AM CLEANING, SWEEPING, SLAVING AROUND AND BEATEN UP. THEY HAVE NO MANAGEMENT WHO CARES ABOUT YOU!!
Dined in with my wife two days ago and was surprised the restaurant was so empty. We were seated immediately and had no trouble finding parking (surprisingly). Our server, ChaeChae, finally showed up after about eight minutes. As he was setting our grill on the table, he had another set of grills in his other hand, which dripped water all over our table. I cleaned it up with my napkin while he watched, and he never apologized.
We received our food and started cooking. He then placed a whole stack of dirty plates (from other tables) on our table, right next to our food, and walked away. There was also an empty table next to the table that he had picked the dirty dishes up from but he chose to place on ours. I couldn’t help but feel disrespected by how inconsiderate he was. He casually picked up the dirty plates and, yet again, didn’t think to apologize.
We tried to brush it off but couldn’t help feeling disgusted by the fact that our server was so unconcerned about us. We then sat for about ten minutes with empty drinks and a grill so charred it was making us cough. Meanwhile we could see him walking around the bar not doing anything, mind you he only had two tables. He finally returned and changed our grill, but by then our appetite was ruined.
We cooked the rest of our food and simply asked for the check. Our only date night of the week was ruined by a horrible server. I wanted to ask for a manager but my wife, as a restaurant GM, just wanted to leave at this point.
The food was great, as always, but we will not be returning to this location. Time to give the Dallas location a try.

The staff member assigning tables was not welcoming and didn’t offer so much as a smile, which set a disappointing tone right from the start. The waiters appeared to be handling multiple tables each, so while they were doing their best, service felt rushed and impersonal. Food is good tho :)

I’ve been coming to this Gen location for about five years, and I think that yesterday will be the last time eating at this location. Over the years, the food has gotten worse and the service is absolutely atrocious. My group and I had to ask for the smallest things multiple times. The meat portions are noticeably different and inconsistent every time I go and the quality of meat is getting worse.
There are so many options for Korean bbq in the Carrollton area. I would highly recommend avoiding this one.
