We won't go there again my husband ordered a steak and couldn't eat it. It was so tough it was horrible. I ordered shrimp that was good. I would not recommend it. I will say the service was good she was very pleasant.

Really good food! The original owner/chef (Fernando) passed away a month or so ago; his daughter has taken over the restaurant, and the quality of the food there is still as good as it was before. One of the few must-eat restaurants on Castroville. Recommend the catfish.

This place is a serious hole in a wall! We walked in and waited to be seated. The owner and waitress looked at us like we were lost. And finally the owner said, "oh y'all can sit down anywhere.". I responded, "oh ok, we thought y'all were customers bc you didn't get up or tell us to take a seat.". My husband ordered the t bone which was medium rare (the waitress didn't ask how he wanted it cooked). I had the Fernando's plate which was A LOT if cold food. The only thing that was hot and halfway good was the puffy taco and regular taco. The beans were disgusting and cold! The enchiladas were cold and the cheese was not even melted. Sorry but this is not worth the money. It was an overall weird dining experience.

Hole-in-the-wall Castroville Tx restaurant. The people here are so nice and welcoming. The food is average, with good prices. The portion sizes are generous. They have recently added appetizers. There are no dessert offerings. The building is in DESPERATE need of repairs, and appears in an overall dilapidated state. We enjoyed our meal, but wouldn't go out of our way to return.

You can’t beat the service and food at Fernandos! They always make their customers feel like family, and their prices are very affordable. Where else in the area, other than a strip joint, can you get a 22 oz thick T bone with fries or a bake potato and a small salad for 14.99? You can’t.Other items from the menu that are definitely worth trying: grilled shrimp plate (10.50), chicken friend steak, chicken and dumplings (my favorite!), chicken salad croissant, and all you can eat catfish on Fridays.Something else I’d like to note; I first introduced my Dad to this place in 2008 or 2009 and he has visited a couple of times every month since then. When he got sick last year, Fernando Medrano reached out to me on FB to check on him, and let me know that he was praying for my family. At a time when businesses were hurting due to CV19, he still took the time to reach out and we really appreciated the thought. We love this place, and enjoy dining with them. Stop by, they won’t disappoint!
