Good food and great ambience

The BEST beef fajitas hands down in TEXAS!! Did you know you can ask for small flour tortillas! Love their salsa here it don't taste like tomato paste. Friendly staff and bar tenders.

So this is a chain Mexican place, but an excellent one. Food is elevated, service is excellent, and many nice touches throughout. Come for the fajitas, stay for the flan.

Our visit to Lupe Tortilla Mexican Restaurant Cedar Park location in Austin was spoiled by a distressing and discriminatory experience that left a lasting negative impression. As three young Black women who recently moved to Austin for professional careers at major tech companies, we were excited to try a new restaurant. When we attempted to order drinks, we presented our government-issued state IDs—one from Illinois, one from North Carolina, and one from Tennessee (as we are all new to the state). Despite being well over the legal drinking age and providing legitimate identification, our server scrutinized our IDs, using a phone flashlight and inspecting them for an unusually long time.

Shortly afterward, the manager approached us, stating that our IDs were deemed "unacceptable" and accusing us of presenting fake IDs. Even after my friend provided a second government-issued military ID to confirm her identity, and despite our own assurances, the manager continued to dismiss our IDs as "flimsy" and “fake.” This exchange, in which our legitimate documents were dismissed without reasonable cause, felt deeply humiliating and, frankly, discriminatory.

This situation was particularly disheartening because we were among the very few Black customers in the restaurant that evening. We ultimately decided to cancel our orders and leave, feeling unwelcome and singled out based on assumptions rather than any genuine cause for concern.

As newcomers to Austin, this experience has left us questioning the inclusivity of certain establishments. We hope that Lupe Tortilla Mexican Restaurant Cedar Park location will take immediate steps to ensure all patrons are treated fairly, respectfully, and without prejudice, regardless of appearance or state of origin. No one should experience this kind of treatment, especially when simply seeking a welcoming dining experience in a new city.

The fajitas are tender and have a robust flavor. The flour tortillas are the perfect thickness and texture. They definitely aren’t made in New Jersey (IYKYK). The staff was engaged but the service itself was slow because they have so many people to serve. The large number of people created a very loud dining room. It was so loud we practically had to yell at each other to be heard, which took away from the overall experience. I’ll be back for the food, but I’ll make sure to sit on the patio outside.

Great place to eat but don't expect to be seated if you're short one person in your party. The salsa and beans are wonderful. Food is fantastic and always great service.
