This was our 1st time here.We were a party of 4.The temperature was cool & quite enjoyable.The atmosphere was rustic country.The service was very good.Our server,Alan, was pleasant & very curteous.He took our drink order & left us to decide our choices.When he returned with the drinks we ordered & he logged it into a little hand held computer.We got an entree of fried pickles/ranch dressing which were delightful.The ladies both had chicken fried chicken.Daughter had mac & cheese & mashed potatoes as her side.My lady had seasoned fries & fried okra for hers.Son-in-law had the Patty Melt with fries & mashed potatoes.I had the grilled fish with coleslaw & mashed potatoes & gravy.The food arrived hot & tasted delicious.A 2nd server stopped & refilled our drinks while the other was waiting on another table,which was wonderful to see how they helped each other.All in all it was a wonderful experience & look forward to returning again!

I read all of the reviews for this restaurant, prior to our visit. We were not disappointed! We had been staying in Fort Parker State Park, and decided to give this place a try. From the moment you walk in the door each and everyone of the staff is so extremely friendly! I felt like I knew them, before I even sat down! It was a very friendly atmosphere, and the service was spot on! Alan was our waiter. He was amazing! The food did not disappoint! It was truly one of the best meals I have eaten in a while! I come from Houston Texas, so we have lots of great restaurants, so to be “wowed” by this lovely small town restaurant was amazing! The salad bar was well stocked, and very fresh! The fried shrimp was better than anything I’ve had on the coast, and my husband had chicken fried steak that was out of this world! Highly recommend, if you are out in this part of Texas, not to miss out on this restaurant! don’t let the auction house location fool you, it’s a great little place to have a nice meal! Hand battered onion rings, salad bar, gernerous portions, yum! Great service and clean! We were passing through back to HOU for a Thursday lunch and at 12 caught a live auction happening! Our young sons learned about farm to table real time! Would recommend -

I, my son, grandson, along with a neighborhood friend were passing through after visiting my farm in the Ben Hur/Big Hill community. Stopped there for lunch just before the 2:00 pm break. Got served anyway. The food was excellent as always. First time for my friend. He was delighted with his selection. Great job, cuz. K Cohn.

Want a different experience? This isn’t your typical restaurant. Located inside a steer sales house you’ll find some good country cooking at its finest! All the southern favorites like chicken fried chicken and deep fried pickles.

Nice surprise! Never would have known the restaurant was there if I hadn’t looked for a place online! Friendly staff and clean, cute restaurant. We started with the salad bar. There were a few people that were loading up before it was our turn so the lettuce and other items were out. I asked the server for lettuce and she was great! The salad bar was replenished in two minutes. Nice selection of items, dressings and awesome croutons! I decided to try the fried chicken. Oh my! Great chicken, gravy was amazing, nice soft roll and pretty good fried okra. BIG portion! Plenty of left overs. I would definitely order again! Husband ordered the shrimp -large order. He requested 5 grilled and 5 fried shrimps with beans and coleslaw. Shrimps were good. He enjoyed the beans and coleslaw was great! We ordered chicken strips to go for our dogs. When we got home and opened the to go box we were surprised at how big the order was! Enough food for two days for our monster dogs! We would eat here again! Don’t let the exterior fool you. Very good eats!! : )

This experience was not very good as the ice tea was so week that it had almost no flavor. When the meal arrived it was not as ordered and the food was almost cold. Fried items like the onion rings had an unpleasant oily texture and the waiter was not very attentive to our needs. Additionally, there were no side dishes that came with the meal and traditional side dishes were charged to the bill on an item by item basis. We are not sure we will give them another chance to determine if this was an isolated case.

Great family restaurant. We had several small chicken fried steak plates and one had the cheese burger with fries. All was home cooked delicious. Finished with coconut cream pies. Even the tea was wonderful. This is our place to eat when in the area. Had the whole family including grandkids eat everything.
