We popped in on a whim. So glad we did, waitress was very attentive ( and she had a quiet a few tables). Please don't skip dessert. The best pies. Great surprise visit for us .
We stopped in on oyr way home from Houston thinking a nonchain cafe would be fun. I had the Friday special of chicken and dumplings with a side of roasted vegetables. It was homemade with a classic taste. My dining partner had a cheeseburger. You really can't go wrong with that. We took a piece of pie to go and found it not to be worth the price paid. Had to wait a bit for the check, so I finally went to the register to ask for it.
I had the chicken fried steak. Very good. I would say it’s a perfectly executed classic chicken fried steak. No frills or gimmicks, just exactly what you expect and exactly what you want. Even better since they use beef tallow for frying. The green beans were very unique and good as well. I didn’t try the pie this time, but it looked really good in the case.
