Great people working the store. I just wish the app was closer to 21st century and will allow to have a plus or minus on some of the condiments when they get added. For instance less lettuce rather than the normal amount when added.

The food is always great — no complaints there at all. However, we came in on Mother’s Day for a carry-out order, and the woman helping us (early 50s with colored hair) was very rude and seemed extremely rushed. There was no line, yet she was hurrying me so much that I could barely think about what I wanted on my tacos. The interaction felt very unwelcoming, and unfortunately her customer service skills were lacking. I hope this can be addressed because the food itself is always excellent.

Freebirds locations in Austin were amazing 10 years ago and loved the consistency across all locations. I've tried this Freebirds location a few times now since being acquired by Sun Holdings Group two years ago (2024) and Freebirds has gone downhill as a whole ever since.

I usually order a Monster with extra protein and have been dissapointed every time now. Theres extremely low meat for even paying extra. Pictured below is the end of my burrito but sadly thats ALL where the EXTRA steak was; it was 90% rice. I include the ticket of what was supposed to be in it. I also got chips and queso with the chips being stale. Its even more overpriced if you go through DoorDash, Uber Eats, etc. Its pretty bad when you thinking you should have ordered Chipotle instead. I'm done with Freebirds.

The Sunday night crew at Gateway is amazing! Everyone is very friendly and greets me as soon as I walk in the door. The food is fresh and tasty.

The company culture seems to nurture a sense of customer appreciation. The food has changed a little since my first visit to a Freebirds in 1998, but is still consistently quality. It doesn't have the same flavor that one would associate with a small establishment that still marinates and grills a large flank of beef and then chops it into delightfully smoky flavored steak bits, restocking the meat as needed on the line. However that is unfortunately to be expected as a restaurant scales out and expand into markets father from their original location.
