Wonderful restaurant, try to go here whenever we are in College Station. Perfectly cooked flavorful steaks. I've never had anything on the menu that wasn't outstanding. Great service. Highly recommend.
Waited a very long time for our meal. Mashed potatoes were gooey and cold. Had run out of the wine we wanted to order. On a high note the steak was tasty and the waitress was nice but the restaurant was understaffed for the crowd they had. Not a good value for the money spent on this visit.
Food came room temperature unfortunately. We usually love this place but this time portions were smaller (sides) and a little disappointing.
Excellent meal & service. Kind of a strange thing to call out, but the restrooms are ridiculously undersized for the size of the restaurant and bar. Not well thought out.
Excellent food and good service. Our filets were cooked perfectly and all the sides were delicious. The only thing they can improve is the crab cakes.
Our experience was magical and expectations were extremely exceeded! We were greeted with smiling faces and the most friendly staff. The service was top notch; therefore we never wanted for anything. We will definitely be going back! Great job Porters for making our night special!!
This is an exceptional fine dining experience. Excellence in every dish. Steaks cooked to perfection, aromatic and seasoned perfectly. Amazing wine selections. Truly perfect. Our servers Rachel and Victoria were amazing also . I'd recommend to anyone !
reservation was for 7:30. we arrived at 7:00 to enjoy the bar. Check in took 10 minutes as the host continually worked on computer. 7:15 went to bar and ordered drink. 7:30 came and we went to table with still no drink from bar had arrived. Dress of patrons included athletic shorts, caps and sleeveless shirts of a number of patrons. This did not seem appropriate for a "higher end" restaurant. Service at table was slow. continually waiting whether it was ordering, bar drinks and/or even water. Food was very good. Next time will choose different place with hopefully better service.
I love their cornbread, roasted brussel sprouts, and peach cobbler. However, the main entree (ribeye) was mediocre.

Do not recommend. Service is good but not the food. Asked for medium but it’s more like a medium well to well done temp. Not worth $60 at all, i can cook better at home lol. They are willing to bring you another one but why bother if they cannot make it right the first time and waste your time and food. It happened at Republican steak house as well. Just avoid those overpriced but no good “fine dinning” in small town.

Today I ate at porters . The food was subpar but I could get over that if the service wasn’t so bad. The bartenders seem entitled and lack basic customer service. Very disappointed in the service.

Really taken back for an upscale place…. Cold and over cooked $100 dollar steak, dry aged to the freezer. Wife had steaks over cooked, they took it back and we waited over 45mins for a recook, they only had 5 tables sat at 1pm. Not pleased with the service. Wag county fired steak was a chuy mess on my kid, he wouldn’t eat it after 2 bites. The bar tender was a nice guy… out side of that the waitress had no clue what was going on around her.
Came here for a birthday dinner. Really confusing to find the main entrance to this place. We ordered street tacos and cornbread to start. Both were fantastic. I would love the cornbread recipe! My partner had the wagyu chicken fried steak, my mom and Aunt had the salmon platter, and I had the 8oz Fillet. Everyone seemed to enjoy their choice. I ordered my steak medium well and it came out well done and dry. I really did not like any of the steak sauce options, but I went with a peppercorn sauce. It was not really for me. As for the sides, we had macaroni and Brussels sprouts. They were amazing! I would come back just for the mac and cornbread! We tried some sort of banana and ice-cream dessert. I would make a different choice next time around. To finish on a positive note, the margarita was on point!

On December 14, 2024, I hosted our annual Christmas dinner at The Porters with a group of retired veterans and their families. While the food was excellent and the servers did a fantastic job, the behavior of the General Manager, Jeralyn Bunting, was incredibly unprofessional and left us feeling disrespected. One of our guests, a veteran with a service-connected disability, brought his service dog, Skye, a German Shepherd, to the dinner. He had called ahead to confirm that Skye would be welcomed, and he was assured there would be no issue. However, upon our arrival, Jeralyn questioned the necessity of the service dog, showing skepticism and reluctance despite the veteran’s explanation of his disability and Skye’s role as a service animal. During the dinner, Jeralyn sent her staff to approach me three separate times with complaints. The first time, the staff member told me that Skye would be removed if she displayed any aggressive behavior, though he acknowledged that she was behaving perfectly and said it was simply a required disclaimer. The second time, he stated that Skye needed to be "tethered," even though she was already wearing both a leash and a harness and was calmly lying near her owner the entire time. The third time, he informed me that the General Manager wanted to speak with me privately. These repeated interruptions were unnecessary, disruptive, and only added to the growing discomfort caused by Jeralyn’s actions. It’s important to emphasize that Skye was perfectly behaved throughout the evening. She remained calm and quiet beside her handler, only standing briefly to greet people. The veteran fed her once, discreetly under the table, as a reward for her excellent behavior. Nothing about the situation justified the treatment we received. At the end of the evening, when these concerns were raised directly with Jeralyn, her response was dismissive and condescending. She claimed to be following ADA guidelines, yet her actions were in direct contradiction to them. According to the ADA: • Service animals must be under the handler’s control at all times (which Skye was). • Service animals must be housebroken (which Skye is). • Service animals are not required to wear physical identification. • Restaurants are not required to allow service animals to be seated or fed at the table, but quiet, discreet feeding is not prohibited. The veteran and his service dog fully adhered to these guidelines, yet Jeralyn’s behavior reflected a lack of respect and professionalism. As retired veterans who have dedicated their lives to serving this country, they were shocked and disheartened by the treatment we received. It’s especially upsetting that this happened in my hometown, College Station, a community known for its support and respect for veterans. While the servers were attentive and kind, Jeralyn’s actions overshadowed the entire evening. Respect, dignity, and professionalism are core values in any hospitality business, and it is disappointing that The Porters failed to uphold these standards. I sincerely hope management takes this matter seriously and works to ensure future guests are treated with the respect they deserve.
Had brunch on Sunday morning with a group of lady friends. The atmosphere was great, food was prepared and presentation spot on. Had the avocado toast with eggs. Was spot on. Highly recommend.
