I haven't had falafel like that since New York City! Lamb filet was tender and delicious!

I'm not sure why this place is rated so high, maybe because the majority of places I have been the dishes were more authentic, it was not what I was expecting.

I first tried Mediterranean cuisine in Illinois and didn't find a matching taste here until I visited Shiraz Shish Kabob, where the food is superb. We enjoyed the #1 and #2 with hummus and bread, falafels and Baklava, and found the atmosphere to be very calming with the sound of water trickling from the water fountain.

Consistantly delicious food! I love the #1 with rice and a side of hummus. My husband adores their lamb shank, his favorite part is the marrow on it. One of the very few places that has this.

The food here is wonderful. That being said, the owner who is typically at the register is incredibly rude. As other people have said, he goes out of his way to not make eye contact with you or acknowledge you besides grabbing your payment OR he is so disrespectful over the phone. I was placing an order and he had not only hung up on me without telling me if it was placed or how long it would take, but when I tried to call back it rung and he hung up on me. Twice. When he finally did answer, he said, "Uh huh you placed an order. What do you want from me." Seriously some of the worst service I've experienced when there was so little contact had. On top of it, like others have left on here in their reviews, dining inside is awful. The place is incredibly humid year-round with fans going that circulate an odd, musky odor. It's not pleasant to actually visit them whatsoever.

Last night, I ordered a Lamb Shank. While the lamb was passable, the accompanying rice was terribly dry and hard, devoid of any flavor. I’ve never encountered Mediterranean food this disappointing before. Needless to say, I won’t be returning.

Waited for about 30 minutes to get the food. The place seemed devoid of air inside. The food wasn't good. The rice was okay that is why the 2 stars. Falafel was hard as rock and did not taste good. Ordered chicken shishi kabab, falafel and hummus.Edit - I think it deserves a 1 star for the hilarious comments by the owners. Good one ! For anyone viewing my comment, please look at other comments that are short of a 5 star. You will, lol.Edit - I am reviewing this comment on 04.01.24. I am absolutely surprised that the huge wall of obnoxious text written by the owner is gone. I did take screenshots coz I shared it with a bunch of my friends to show how hilarious it was. I am debating if I should post that as proof.

Why do I keep going here despite the food not having any flavor? Because sadly, this is the only Persian place near me since moving out here. I love Persian food, and I'm very familiar with it. As a lot of the lower star reviews are saying, the meat is often over cooked, and every single time I'm optimistic and hoping for more flavor, but nope.. it's always bland. I season it myself with lemon juice, salt, sumac, which usually will enhance flavors that are already there if the food is good. But this food is still a bit bland even after putting those things on it. So whenever I feel like having Persian, I will settle for mediocre and flavorless rather than none at all. Once you've had juicy, flavorful Persian food, you will know what it is I'm talking about. Editing to say that I'm talking about the chicken kabobs specifically. I have not had the others yet. Planning to try beef koobideh soon.

This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem here in the BCS, if you'r'e a foodie like myself. The food is absolutely phenomenal and something I crave often. It is never busy here, and there are plenty of tables available if you prefer to dine in. There is also a cute little fountain on the inside! I almost always order the Lamb Fillet plate with Rice. It comes with two lamb skewers, naan, and a large portion of delicious rice! The meat is packed with flavor and super juicy and tender. I keep telling myself that I need to try the other meats whenever I dine here, but the lamb is just that good! I've also met the owner a few times, and you can catch him working at the front counter most days. I love supporting small family owned restaurants like this. Not to mention, the owner is also a Veteran. So give this place a try, you will not be disappointed. The flavors of the dishes are as authentic as they come!
