The gumbo was very disappointing. The shrimp poboy was good, the shrimp were flavorful and bread was buttery but they were skimpy with the toppings. It looked like pico de gallo on top which was confusing. The interior is dark and cold, it definitely needs some revamping to look more inviting. The guy waiter was pleasant but talked too much while we tried to enjoy our food and the other guy at the counter was rude. Definitely not worth another trip but to each their own.

The older man that waited on us was so very nice and attentive. The food was extremely delicious. The shrimp was some of the best tasting shrimp that I’ve had in a longtime. I also Had a piece of catfish. It was cooked perfectly. The only thing that I would have like more is if the black film was removed from the fish prior to being cooked. Leaving that on the fish makes it taste a little muddy. Because I know this, I sc It off before eating it. Otherwise, it all was cooked to perfection.

First time, and will definitely be back! I enjoyed the catfish and shrimp, the Cajun potato salad (yum!) And the red beans and rice. My husband the shrimp po'boy. Food/ingredients are great quality, fresh and prepared with love, delicious! The side sauce was so good, we asked for a second little serving. Can't wait to taste the rest of the menu! Great ambiance too! It was such a pleasure to dine with jazz playing smoothly, (and not too) loud in the background.

I was born and raised in New Orleans but I've lived in/near San Antonio for a few years now. I am always looking for a taste of home. With it being the Mardi Gras season, I was feeling especially home sick. My husband found this place and surprised me for dinner.First, the people here are wonderful. Everyone was so kind, pleasant and warm. It was great to chat with them and learn about the restaurant. They made us feel welcome and at home. They made great plate recommendations. The Mrs even came out several times to see how I liked her food. The young gentleman, Sam, was so polite and friendly. The drink named after him is sweet, refreshing and enjoyable. Be sure to ask him how he came up with it.After looking at the menu, I wanted to try everything! We ordered three plates to share. The fried catfish was my favorite. It was lightly breaded and cooked well. I don't like slimy fish and this was done perfectly. The fried shrimp was also very tasteful. They were perfect for dipping in the homemade sauce. It had a very good seasoning on it. The grilled shrimp was delicious. It was not overcooked or rubbery. It was grilled just right. The stuffed shrimp is generously sized and tasted just like home. I could have eaten those all day. I believe these are the house speciality. But ya'll, the potato salad here is AMAZING. It is easily the best I have ever had (Sorry Mom)! I haven't eaten that much food in a long time and I will be back to do it again and again. If you're looking for some authentic NOLA eats, this place is worth trying. The food, people and hospitality here is the closest I've had to home in a long, long time.Note- They also do brunch and we hope to try that soon too.

You don't have to wait for the Family Fish Fry to get your catfish fix, just come to Elder's. It was so good. I'll have to try the Gumbo next.Though the outside looks like an old Dr. Office, the inside has a dining room.

I felt like I am visiting my family. Home cooked delicious food ? the gumbo was heavenly. Service was awesome. I feel like service is here the wrong word for it. It was not hired waiter or a hired cook it was the Elders family doing everything with love, openess, friendliness. We for sure will come back. Y'all need to go and enjoy it.?Oh, I can't provide any picks because it disappeared to fast in our stomachs and the conversation was part of the "distraction " which made me forget taking pics??Parking: ?Kid-friendliness: ?Wheelchair accessibility: ?
