The Kitchen New Orleans Soul-food & Cajun

“The kitchen” is in a gas station where you pay for it with the gas station employees. The older lady that works there says we don’t make enough for napkins and other basic restaurant supplies. She also has a no nonsense attitude for some reason. The food is ok to me but they consistently have customers so I guess they’re doing something right. To me it lacked seasoning but the food was made to order and was fresh. The quantity is there so you get what you pay for. Apparently it’s a sin to ask for hot sauce. I have mixed reviews about it as you can tell.

Best soul food in converse

The food and service is always excellent! Can't go wrong with anything on their menu.

The best cajun seafood i’ve had in a long time. The service was excellent she was very attentive when taking orders and made sure you didn’t walk out with anything you didn’t want. The only “complaint” i have is when it gets crowded it’s difficult to find a place to stand while you wait for the food but it’s worth it.

Nice piece of catfish but the Mac and cheese was super salty. Tried the Gumbo as well and that too was Salty. I normally like salty food but this made me nauseous from the amount of salt used. I tried mixing the Mac and cheese with the rice to tone down the taste of the salt but that didn’t help one bit. Maybe I went on a bad day but I won’t go back.

The food is delicious! It's a small owned business that doesn't always have what's on the menu. I would suggest calling ahead. It is take out only. The food is made with a a lot of love! Definitely on my list of favorites! And definitely will be returning!

Absolutely some of the best Cajun food I've ever tried. The Mac and cheese is to DIE for and I WILL be returning as a regular customer!!! The kind lady taking orders was so sweet and kind, she deserves as much business as this city can give her!!!

The food was so good. Great portions for the price. I got the pork chops and my husband got the chicken strips. The cajun mac and cheese and fried okra were excellent too. The lady at the register was so sweet and has great banter while you wait. Everything was freshly made. Unassuming with it being in the shell station, but I already can't wait to go back.
