My fiancé and I made an 8:00 PM reservation for Valentine’s Day and were really looking forward to a special evening. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing from the moment we walked in.

When we arrived, we stood at the hostess stand for about five minutes without being greeted or acknowledged. It was awkward and confusing, as no one even made eye contact with us. Eventually, someone approached, and we let her know we had a reservation. She didn’t check anything and simply sat us.

After being seated, we waited 20 minutes without anyone coming to take our drink order or even offer water. My fiancé then asked the same host if someone could take our order. She said okay, but we waited another 15 minutes with no service. After about 10 more minutes of waiting and still no acknowledgment from any staff member, we decided to leave.

This was especially disappointing given that it was Valentine’s Day and we had made our reservation days in advance. We understand that holidays can be busy, but being completely unattended for nearly 45 minutes is unacceptable. We were really hoping for a memorable night, but unfortunately, it turned into a frustrating experience instead.

We’ve been to Black Sheep Bistro twice recently, and unfortunately both visits were disappointing due to ongoing kitchen and management issues.

On our most recent visit, the steelhead trout appetizer was rancid. I mentioned this politely. While the new bartender was professional and tried to make it right by offering a replacement appetizer, it never arrived. Our food then took well over an hour to come out. Although I didn’t complain, the bartender noticed the delay and comped a round of drinks, which was appreciated.

When the meals finally arrived, my wife’s grilled chicken was significantly undercooked. My lamb had good flavor but was inconsistently cooked, with rare pieces despite being ordered well done.

On our previous visit, my mother-in-law ordered the crab cakes. Her meal was served about 25 minutes after the rest of the table, and the crab cakes contained almost no crab. She ultimately did not eat her dinner. She brought this to the manager’s attention at the time, and no effort was made to correct the issue.

This is now two visits in a row where I’ve watched family members leave without being able to eat their meals. The bartender clearly understands service, but the kitchen execution and management response are where things are breaking down.

I’m sharing this in hopes that ownership or management takes a serious look at consistency, food safety, and follow-through. This restaurant used to be much better, and I’d like to see it get back there.

The service was fine, the restaurant was fairly empty on a Friday night. The food was decently prepared but extremely overpriced for the quality.
Due to the lack of value we won’t be coming back.

Got seated quickly. We were informed that it was a little hot inside. Drinks ordered, water & coke were brought to the table pretty fast. Ordered an appetizer, the bruschetta and was not worth it. Bread was spongy/soft...very tiny appetizer all together not worth ordering at all. Next we ordered our dinner & it never came out. The waitress was very nice, she kept saying its coming or some orders got put in right before yours, or would you like some crackers. Finally after an hour we left. Place was pretty much empty. Will not be retuning.

Don’t let the outside appearance fool you. Once you walk in, it’s warm and welcoming. More of a small town dive bar with locals enjoying the ambiance. We were greeted and quickly seated. So started off great. Waitress came within 2-3 minutes. Drinks were on the table within 5-6 minutes of us seating. Our waitress Bree, was very personable, attentive and overall great customer service. We got the dates- 10-, the crab cakes were a little dense and could use more flavor -6, lobster and crab nachos -10.. a lil spicy for me but my wife enjoyed them. Give this spot a go. We were very pleased.

I brought my boyfriend from North Dakota to corpus for his first beach trip on a whim. This place was recommended by our Air BNB host. I got the shrimp pasta and it was incredible. He got a burger I think, predictably. Our server/bartender was so warm and friendly and my negroni was on point too. The best meal I've had in years and overall a very romantic private vibey place.

We visited this restaurant over the Fourth of July weekend and were pleasantly surprised to get seated right away, even though we expected it to be packed. From start to finish, the experience was outstanding. Our server, Bree, was amazing, friendly and attentive.

The food was absolutely delicious. We started with several appetizers, including the lamb, bacon-wrapped shrimp, and the Caprese salad—each one fresh and full of flavor. For entrées, our table had a great variety: burgers, shrimp pasta (times two!), and I had the beef tips. Everyone at the table loved their meal.

If I had two tiny suggestions, it would be to offer some sort of bread—maybe garlic bread or rolls—especially with pasta or beef dishes and to liven up the atmosphere. That said, everything else was fantastic. I’ll definitely be back!

Came into town to visit the beach from El Paso, my boyfriend and I stopped in for a meal before the sunset and it was amazing! Bri was our server and she had the best positive aura and answered all of our questions! The food was absolutely excellent, we had the smoked gouda burger and was very impressed by the home cut fries and the meat was cooked well while still being juicy! definitely will be coming back and recommending to friends coming to the area
