The service was lackluster and the food was mediocre. The food came out one by one and was around 30 minutes apart it really ruined the group atmosphere. The beer tasted weird. Other tables were prioritized. Groups came in after us and left before us while we waited forever for our food. We also had to track down the waiter to pay and when we did the waiter gave the receipt to the wrong person and didn't even give me my card back. We had to confront the waiter to figure out where my card was and after awhile they eventually found it. On top of everything, there was a gigantic roach we saw while paying. Horrible experience it was exactly as the bad reviews say. There was also beggars by the front entrance.

First time dining here. Tried it after walking at the Art Walk. Walked in about 9:30, not crowded at all. Server took awhile to get to us for our drink orders. Once that was taken, she waited awhile after bringing drinks to take our order. Order took a long time to come out and the two orders were brought out separately with more than 5-10 minutes in between. The food was delicious. Our server surely did make it up to us by comping our drinks. Will definitely give this place another try.

COCKROACHES: DO NOT EAT HERE! Our experience at La Playa by the Bay was disappointing and honestly concerning. From the start, the waitresses never came to our table – the host handled our entire service, which was confusing. We waited over 30 minutes after placing our order, and unfortunately, we never got to try our food. A massive cockroach crawled across our table, completely ruining any sense of cleanliness or safety. The host tried to dismiss it by saying the rain was bringing them in, but there was no rain in the forecast for the weekend. Regardless, this is a serious sanitation issue – a health hazard, really – and I wouldn’t be surprised if the place failed an inspection. Not returning and definitely wouldn’t recommend.

I was excited to visit this restaurant because of the great music coming from this restaurant. Once we arrived, the waiter was not friendly, and he threw the menus on the table. The worse cheese enchiladas I have ever tasted. The food taste like unexperienced cooks. We had to keep changing our order because they were out of food items. We won't be visiting this restaurant again.

We had the worst service, bad food, they couldn't give us our checks, after a couple hours, they finally tried to tell us what to pay, my plate they charged me was a 8oz ribeye medium rare with 3 shrimp... They gave me a piece of fajita meat that was well done, the fries tasted like a rotten potato, the lettuce tasted like an old bad head of lettuce. The only thing that was good was the shrimp and beer. so if your okay paying 30 bucks for 3 shrimp and 2 beers that's your choice but all at my table will never return.

I don’t like leaving negative reviews but this was the worst service I’ve experienced in a restaurant. We were sat down, given menus, and then just completely ignored while the other two groups that came in after us were immediately catered too with chips and their drink orders taken. It felt as though the waitress was purposely going out of her way to ignore us and we hadn’t even spoke two words with her. Both groups were sitting on either side of us, so we were very visible. We just walked out after we kept getting passed by as if we didn’t exist. For context the restaurant had all of 4 other groups inside the whole restaurant (not including outside, there were a few tables taken not many though). We both just felt very disrespected, probably won’t be coming back after that experience.
Staff did not care that we were in there. Ceviche had to be 2-3 days old. I had to track down the waiter to tell him we were ready for the bill and found him playing on his phone in a booth. Just skip it.
