From outta town, the 956 so I definitely know good food, and this food is great. Ate seafood of course, the combination plate a good mix at an excellent price. Fish fried to perfection, fries golden brown & crunchy, crab salad tasty as well. The fish tacos were also a 9/10 just missing a hotter salsa, but the grilled planks were moist and flavorful. No refills on soda but not to worry there's plenty to choose from. Do yourself a favor and grab a table.

I was in for a quick trip to Corpus Christi and on my way to town I was looking up seafood restaurants and came upon LA Jaivita #1. So we stopped to eat there being that I prefer to go to the local mom and pop restaurants. Well let me tell you I was not disappointed one bit. Service was great food was great and the drink was very good. I will definitely go back again. I loved it. Money well spent.
La Jaivita #1 (original location) can be found at 3202 Prescott St #4499, Corpus Christi, TX 78415. It is amazing!! The food was so, so good that we dug in and forgot to take pictures. We ordered shrimp ceviche and although it didn't have any type of fresh chile like jalapeño or Serrano diced in, it was really fresh tasting, crisp and light but flavorful. You can tell they know how to make ceviche and have been making it for a very long time. We also ordered a fish filled to try it. We should have ordered a platter because it was fried to perfection and had a buttery feel and/or taste but in a good subtle way. We don't want to imply that it tasted just like butter because you could definitely taste the freshness of the fish fillet. It was really good. We didn't ask what kind of fish; sorry. We also ordered a beef torta. It was so-so. This place specializes in seafood so in our opinion maybe they should totally stick to all seafood. Hope some of you give it a try when in Corpus and in the mood for some great, fresh fish meals.

Terrible service couldn't get a table because it was seven of us tried to get separate tables we were told we couldn't because they didn't want their waitress back and forth. Hostess walked away mumbling sit where ever you want y'all are going to do whatever y'all want anyway!!

We travel for work and look for good places to eat every time we’re in town. La Jaivita did not disappoint! Hubby had a cocktail that had a mix of shrimp, fish, octopus and crab I believe…looked delicious. I had fish tacos and those were so DELICIOUS!Highly recommend! :)
