I was very disappointed in the drinks, food, service and overall cleanliness. The tablecloth was stained and there was food and a dirty fork under a piece of furniture close to our table. Definitely not worth the price we paid. Our waitress did say that they are currently looking for a chef which may have explained the quality of the food but how do you explain the bad drinks and dirty dining area? We’ve been going to The Republic for special occasions for several years now. We will not be going back.

The experience my husband and I had here last night for our anniversary was awful. It started off by waiting almost 30 minutes to be seated for our 7pm reservation. Our water glasses had to be changed three times because they kept bringing us dirty glasses. Then to top it off, our meal was a disaster. We both ordered the filet and shrimp special of the night; both ordered medium rare. Mine came out medium which wasn’t what I ordered but it was fine. My husband’s was so undercooked that only the edges were edible. Thankfully they comped my husband’s meal (as they should) but overall the experience was horrible. The only good parts of the dinner was the wine, our salad/soup, and that our waiter was nice. It is also unfortunate that they’ve apparently eliminated any kind of dress code. Watching people walk around in t-shirts and shorts really kills the atmosphere at a restaurant serving wine and steaks that cost hundreds of dollars. We won’t be coming back for any special occasions.

What a gem on the beach of Corpus Christi! Had such a great meal that I came back the next day. But the Old Fashions were the star. 5 or 6 different amazing recipes. I had to try a few. They did not disappoint. And my ribeye was cooked perfectly with terrific flavor. I will be back!

Enjoyed every moment... Great views of the gulf, good lighting, comfortable chairs... the waiter was fun and easy to talk to, he knew exactly what to recommend and the water is good... I don't usually drink water from restaurants, but this one is like wow... Totally going again soon!!!

Solo diner, I had a 6:30 pm reservation on a Thursday hoping to miss the crowd. Views of the shipping channel, new bridge construction, Art Museum, Aquarium, the Lexington, Corpus Christi Bay, and downtown were phenomenal. I had perused the menu ahead of time, so, after 15 minutes of warm bread and water, I ordered my entree, 8 ounce filet and a side of Brussels sprouts with pork belly, and a glass of house Merlot. The wine with bread kept me occupied while enjoying pop music from the likes of Kelly Clarkson and Taylor Swift to Bruno Mars. Not quite 25 minutes later, my medium rare, cooked to perfection, although not entirely warm filet, was delivered, along with a second glass of Merlot., and the side. The pork belly was more of a suggestion than actual accompaniment to the Brussels sprouts, but the dish was delicious. Overall, I was impressed with the meal, which set me back $97.97 before tip. I was celebrating Leap Year, so it will be a while before I splurge like this again.

We arrived an hour early for our reservation in hoping that we could be seated and have an early dinner. We were told I could not happen, even though there was more than two dozen open tables. On top of that, the food was fair at best with the addition to they ran out of bread and certain desserts by 6:30 PM. I have never been to a restaurant with a run out of the basic items that early in the evening. That tells me they're under poor management.
We had an amazing breakfast at Republic of Texas - unbelievable view!! We loved the food, and our server Valerie went above and beyond to make our son’s birthday special!!
Waiter was nice but took a while to show up. They were out of 2 of the 6 sides on the menu: asparagus and broccolini. However, some of our plates did come with asparagus. (Maybe they were saving them for those plates? Anyways, still bad.) Waiter missed part of our order and realized it after we asked for it twice. She was honest about telling us afterwards she had forgotten to put it in... although she did tell us when asked, that the order was coming out briefly. We ordered coffee with our dessert and were told the coffee machine was broken so they couldn't give us any. Drinks were painfully slow. For what it costs, I don't think it's worth it. Wouldn't really recommend.

The staff is incredibly friendly, the one drawback on the time I was there was the volume of the live band. I felt that my conversation was loud and having to yell over the music. The food is not compatible to the price point. These prices are Vegas high. Great for a nice date out.
