Just went for my birthday, to celebrate. It was my choice. From the time we walked in I absolutely wanted to leave. We made a reservation, but whomever greeted us associated us with a last name that wasn’t ours. She was older, so laughed it off and passed it off wanting to get out table and get dinner started. That is until we were approached by a random woman asking about our last name. To which we replied, no that’s not our name. Why did she even know? Cut through the dinner, food was meh, to the same woman saying “there’s the fake (insert last name)” as we were leaving. Excuse me? No. If that’s the kind of clientele and atmosphere you want to be faced with on any special day, please stop by and take your chances. As for me, I’ll never be back.

This place is a Gem! The service from the moment you walk in is detailed and specific to your party. It is small but that just makes it more intimate and special! The food was on point from the appetizer, the salads were fresh and delicious to every entree made perfectly for everyone's liking! The bar tender even knew how to make real drinks we always preferred the classic cocktails to the new ones...

Best restaurant in Corpus Christi hands down! Not only is this a memory from my childhood, but it captures grace and elegance on the water and truly provides a magnificent French culinary delight.

Fantastic dinner! The owners greeted us as we came in. All of the hospitality and service is 5-star without the pretentious atmosphere. We had the escargot, oysters Rockefeller, black drum papillote, and chocolate mousse. Each dish was impressive with flavor. Service speed was perfect for a date night away. Have to call to make reservations. The old school reservations book is on the desk just inside the door. Love this family feeling and restaurant. We will enthusiastically be recommending this place to all who visit Corpus!

The food was way overpriced and hit or miss. The chowder was absolutely delicious. The crab stuffed mushrooms had no flavor whatsoever and tasted like a wet sock. The atmosphere is nice and so is the waitstaff. However, the owner's wife needs to retire. She was very rude when we showed up without a reservation and wanted to dismiss us until her husband said they could take us. Sounds like she treats most new customers this way in reading the other comments. It was something I wanted to try out after seeing it on the Texas Bucket List, but I will not be back.

So this great place is obviously the result of a functioning time machine. It is old school, from the charming surrounds, to the service, to the cocktails, to the attention to food quality, to the recipes themselves. Everything speaks of a time before money was everything. The fish (3 different entrees) was fresh, the sauces paired with them, just right, the sides, just right, the portions....refreshingly appropriate. I was perfectly full after five courses, for a fair price. Make this trip now. This will not last forever.

There are definitely pros and cons here. The pros are a shorter list so let’s start there. The owners are very friendly. The wait staff is happy to serve and you can tell they’re hustling but they just don’t have enough people bc the smallest things take FOREVER. Overall service was great. Aside from how hard it is to hear and how loud you have to talk, the atmosphere really is pretty awesome. If it was easier to talk to each other I could have hung out for a few hours.
Now to the cons. I have never, EVER left a restaurant in my entire life feeling more ripped off. I was absolutely floored when I got my bill. There are some average type prices for good seafood on the menu. $26 for chicken plate, $30 something for shrimp plate, etc. We were read the specials and, as a normal person would with specials, you assume they’re going to be similar prices or better. So we go ahead and order the tuna plate and the salmon plate. We start with an appetizer calamari (14$) and get the dinkiest kids sized plate of it after about 30 min. It was probably 10-15 small pieces. So consider that almost a buck a bite for something that tastes like anyone else’s. Next we get our soup. It was good but nothing special. Bread was also brought out and was fine but just plain nothing, probably $1 HEB French loaf plus “butter” that’s just yellow oil. Then the salad comes. It’s the smallest little nothing with a couple mixed greens and two cucumbers and a carrot slice. You could get an HEB bagged salad for $3 and make twice as much as they give you. Next comes the meal an hour later. The tuna was so heavily crusted with peppercorn it was almost inedible. You get about 6 green beans and a literal 1/8th cup of mashed potatoes. This plate ended up being FIFTY FIVE DOLLARS (as the “special”!). My wife got her salmon and it was quite delicious but the “black bean and corn salsa” was honestly about 6 kernels of corn and two individual black beans (I wish I was joking). She also got the infants sized green beans and a mashed potato ball that was about what you’ve expect size wise if it had accidentally fallen onto the plate. This was FOURTY TWO DOLLARS. I could not believe it. Two “specials” plus an appetizer for $119 bucks. I was scared to ask for a to go box bc it might have been $25 for it lol. It really sucks how bad they rip you off here bc the atmosphere and people are great but holy moly I have never left a restaurant more ticked off than I did there. Never again.

We waited for nearly 30 minutes and still didn't get our drinks. Evidently, we weren't dressed well enough for our waitress who had time to make a list of places to visit for another group but couldn't get us a coke and a mojito in a half hour.

The service here was great. We absolutely loved our waitress.
The food was ok. We got the red snapper and some crab cakes. The amount of food was definitely NOT worth the price. My husband did not like it but I thought it was ok.
The atmosphere was HOT 🥵🔥. It was 84 degrees in there and no way to cool down. The air conditioning could not keep up. If I could have given just 1/2 star for atmosphere, I would have. We sat at the thermostat so we could see how HOT it was. My poor mother had a hard time breathing as it upset her asthma.
