I was one of 3 older ladies returning from a high school reunion in Southeast Texas traveling back to the Dallas area. We got a late start and postponed breakfast, but time passed, and it was nearing the noon hour. We checked on-line and found this little gem of a country restaurant. We called ahead and found that they served breakfasts all day. We took a hop over from 287 and were so glad we did. The breakfast was wonderful! The ambiance was very "down home" but all that mattered to us was the food. We all got the Big Country Breakfast and ate every bite! We had a sweet little waitress named Cheyenne who joined us (in between serving other guests) for a discussion full of laughs. Service was GREAT! Just before leaving we noticed the home-made pies in a glass case. We all decided to get a take-out slice of the coconut cream for later. We all ate a bite before leaving and it was oh so yummy! Just like my Mamma used to make. We will definitely be returning if ever we are passing that way again. ALL GOOD!

This is an excellent mom and pop kind of diner. The food is exceptional and the wait staff is friendly and helpful. This is NOT fine dining but perfect for anyone looking for good food in a friendly place. You can call ahead to ask what is on the buffet for the day.

The offer a buffet line at noon ranging from salad bar to soup and pinto beans and rice. The bar isn't elaborate however offers all fresh basics and a few down home south, coleslaw, pickled okra, potato salad. The food is adequately covered with plexiglass sneeze bar. There's generally three proteins, i.e. covered steak with gravy, chicken and dumplings and scrumptious fried fish. The vegetables range from pinto beans, carrots, mashed potatoes, broccoli, green beans with new potatoes and others. Typically 6 to 8 vegetable options. Assortment of breads, corn bread, rolls and biscuits. Hot water corn bread is always available. Your buffet meal comes with dessert and they are homemade pies and cakes. We've never had to wait in a line. The service is good and pricing within normal range. They offer a full menu and will prepare to go. Great for breakfast or lunch. It's like sitting down at grandma's table. If you leave hungry it's your own fault or you are too picky.

This place does not look like a typical restaurant. It appears to be an old service station so we were unsure at first. We went ahead and ate here and we were certainly glad we did. They have a buffet but you can choose to eat off the menu (which we did). The chicken fried steak is amazing!!! My dad got breakfast, which is served all day, and he said his was delicious. My only complaint was the chocolate cake was dry. But I heard the pie was delicious so I'll try this next time. I was happy to see a buffet style restaurant that survived covid! And no one in the restaurant was wearing masks or social distancing....this is not a complaint! It was a nice relief. I will definitely be going back next time I'm in the area. Maybe even give their famous fried chicken a try!

Friendly people, great fried chicken, onion rings are fantastic, buffet loaded with fresh vegetables southern style, and just about the only place I know you can get hot water cornbread! Homemade pies.

This review is for those interested in Covid -precautions. None of the serving staff had masks. There was a buffet. This was on 8/20/20. This restaurant offered fewer Covid precautions than we have seen in Houston and The Woodlands so it startled my friend and I. We got our food to go (not from the buffet) and left. The food was good.
