The service was excellent, and the food was really good as well. Larger portions than we expected. Definitely recommend!

If you don't mind a little drive The Backwoods in Cross Plains is amazing!! The food is seasoned well, the portions are large & the prices are great!! I always get the chicken fry & my husband gets the Cheeseburger. The chicken fry I crave a couple of days after eating it. The seasoning is incredible. It comes with 2 sides & garlic toast for only $11.99 ( & I had already started eating it before I took the picture) The Cheeseburger is 1/2lb for $10.99 & comes with your choice of ff & they give you a mound of ff's. I've also gotten the cheese sticks you get 3 or 4 huge log size homemade cheese sticks for $6.99. They are always brown & crispy & so delicious. The service is always quick & friendly & the restaurant is clean. Please give this our of the way a chance to impress you with their all around great restaurant.

Everything !!! There are no words to describe how awesome the food was. The All American Club was amazing, the hamburgers were delicious and the chicken club was amazing as well. All the options for fries and okra were delicious, if you are passing through Cross Plains Tx you have to stop and eat.

Me and my family will not be goin bk here our food had to be sent back due to not being cook all the way though severs was not on top of the drinks

Excellent burger and homemade fries. At a very reasonable price. Get the jalapeno sourdough bread it is perfect with the fresh ground beef patty.

First time customers 4pm today-Saturday. Prices for real home cooking was extremely reasonable and food was really good! Especially liked they way they make their side salad with half boiled egg plus a pickled okra.
*Big drink glasses too. 🙂

Everyone's always so friendly. I always stop by here when I cross through the town on my way to Lubbock. Best chicken fried steak I've had in a long time and it's good days later. I swear I dream about it

Everytime I've eaten here I leave full & happy, waiting for my next trip to come back. Everything is great, but the chicken fried steak is one of the best in the state. Perfectly seasoned, crispy edges, tender steak & the best gravy in the south. I compare all chicken fried Steaks to this place now. The burgers are also great according to my husband. He's a big guy & he always leaves food on his plate as the portions are so big. Nice find in a little town.
