The Frio - Hill Country Grill & The Barn

Had a reservation for Mother’s Day brunch today to sit on the wrap around porch at 12:45. We went up to the hostess stand and they said we would be seated soon. After half an hour I went to ask on our status, they said we were about to be seated but it would be at least an hour wait before we get food because they were behind on food. We had our children, ages 3 and 4, with us and now it would be at least an hour and a half before my kids could eat. We had a reservation. What was the point of the reservation? I was looking forward to this breakfast with my family on Mother’s Day. As soon as you said it would be an hour minimum before we would see any food we got up and left. I’m really disappointed at 1:30 pm Mother’s Day I have to go out and find somewhere else to go because this event at Frio was so poorly executed and failed. You needed to have a waitress outside talking to guests waiting and serving drinks at the bare minimum. Your staff was rude to talk to and they avoided interacting with customers. They did not actively approach anyone. You should not have taken walk ins if it meant you couldn’t support the reservations ON MOTHERS DAY where it’s an event entire families get ready and go to together. Families that have kids that can’t wait hours before they eat. Brunch started at 10 and by 12:45 you could not support my family and many other families (who also walked out after waiting an hour or more). I do not recommend Frio for any events they host in the future. They’re great for a quick bar stop or a night for music. Never again will I bring my family or recommend Frio for events.

Worst service ever! Took 30mins to get one drink. Had to go get my own drink at the bar.

Freaking BEST burgers!!! So good at The Barn♡

Great place for a party or just lunch with a friend. They offer several tasty choices. Food hot and fresh. We went before the lunch or dinner rush. Be patient when the place is busy and tip your waiter!

Parking: If you're in a wheelchair it is difficult to find parking. It is a gravel parking lot.

The food here was very good. The server was also very attentive. We had several different appetizers and drinks and everything was good!

Went for my birthday on a Wednesday and atmosphere was light and enjoyable. Food was excellent. Loved the pecan crusted bourbon chicken.

Loved the place and service! My daughter ordered a grilled cheese and I ordered enchiladas. The cheese wasn’t melted on both and it was undercooked.

This was my ,my Son, my DIL and two Granddaughter’s first visit to The Frio~Hill Country Grill & The Barn. We all enjoyed our meals and we all shared the Trio Fair desert. It consisted of Fried Oreos, Twinkies and Snickers with a bowl of vanilla ice cream with caramel drizzle. I love that the menu is different than most others with some signature items. I had the Stuffed Chicken Fried Chicken and it was Delish! ?? It’s close to home and although I’m not staying for it; has live music in the outdoor barn. There’s an area where little ones can run around and I believe that there are some toys provided also; that or people brought their own. I’ll definitely return! ? Sorry that I didn’t provide any pictures but all I could think of was the food and presentation of it. ? ?

Parking: Regular parking is plentiful but feel they could have at least a couple more Handicap Parking spaces!

Kid-friendliness: There’s a turfed area where children can play and I believe there are some toys provided. There’s an outdoor barn (with bar) and music provided (not sure if every weekend or just weekends).

Wheelchair accessibility: There are ramps and paths for wheelchair accessibility.

This place could have been a hit, really cool outdoor patio. However the service was so incredibly painfully slow to order; receive food, receive the check, pay the check. Everything. We will not return.

Service is non-existent at this place. Great manager, because he at least acknowledged the problem but the waitress with blonde hair wasn't good at all. When a table has a toddler you prioritize them. She literally disregarded our table and continues to serve the table next to us that came after us, refilling their drinks and even serving them chips as they wait. Meanwhile at our table, we have empty water glasses. I'd hate to think it was racial bias but that's what it came off as...

Made a reservation, no tables ready and we were put in the back. 30 minutes in between drinks, zero water refills, 1 1/2 hour wait for food on a NON busy night. The order was wrong, food was cold and we got and EXTRA charge for sharing an
entree.Wont be back.

I give a place 2 x’s before never coming back. They need help in food and service area. Party of 2, we have been here 1.5 hours and still waiting on check. Food… Will try something different next time, didn’t finish 1/2 it was so salty. Great atmosphere, but not a great find.
