Adorable bakery in Highland Park Village. Let's be real, this and Starbucks are probably one of the few establishments you can walk into around HPV as a commoner and actually be able to afford to buy something without dropping an arm, leg or your firstborn. I wanted to pick up some cupcakes and bought a six pack of mini cupcakes and a gingerbread cookie since it was the holidays. They offer the same flavors as the regular cupcakes. They also serve lunch here and the fare looks great for a girly lunch. I'm a self professed cake snob and the cupcakes were delicious, particularly the chocolate and red velvet. You can taste the butter in the buttercream frosting, and tell it's made on-site from scratch.

Very friendly people and a really good salted caramel latte! Super tasty, sweet but not overpowering the good coffee flavor. Super cute shop! Looks like a great variety of baked goodies too, though I didn’t try any. Clean and cool with lots of seating.

My first trip to this bakery to order gluten free cupcakes for Christmas… and my order was wrong and after back n forth… tried to get my original correct order. Overall a disappointing experience and other than a simple sorry, leaves you feeling as an unwanted customer.

Really try hard to support local but this place makes it so hard. Have been here twice before and the staff all work as if it’s their first day and the drinks and less than average. Gave it my third (and last) visit today. They had 5 people in the store yet it took 15 mins to place an order. They find out they have no milk and tell the people in front of us. We wait another 5 mins for them to tell us the same. Why not tell the whole line who ordered drinks with milk and not waste everyone’s time? Surprised they are surviving in HPV. If you’re feeling like coffee or something sweet, go elsewhere.

HP Bird Bakery absolutely one of my fav places. Frequented it weekly. As of the past yr- staff has changed and behind the counter was filthy. We ordered two California Turkey sandwiches and waited almost 30 min for them. When received, neither sandwich had turkey on them, at all. The bread was had as well! Talked to store manager to see about making the sandwiches or just even bring some turkey and we’ll put it on. Whatever it took, too expensive to throw out. He was unbelievable rude and I was shocked. So sad because we really loved this place. Will not snd have not gone back since.

So disappointing. The ONLY positive thing is the location. We waited 17 minutes for an espresso (while they were not busy). Well, a bad espresso. We just went in because the kids wanted some cupcakes. On top of that, TERRIBLE service, they barely respond to you when you ask something. They act as if they are doing you a favor taking your order.

Hate to have to do this but one of my fav casual spots has turned into slow to no service, all tables and bar seating not cleaned late in the day, and a staff that seems to aimlessly wonder while people wait unattended. What a shame. The owner needs to increase quality of service staff asap.
